Failure!

With the help of friend W and my son I am trying to set up a Zoom connection and W and I , together with other friends were to have our first virtual coffee morning    but I failed miserably in my efforts to join up.   Hopefully later  in the day we shall have a post mortem and things will be resolved.   I am not all that computer literate and at times like this it shows.

The same thing happened with my Supermarket orders (luckily I have other sources) but my son sat up until midnight last night and managed to book me another slot towards the end of the month - so I now have two slots this month and that will do me nicely.   It is things like fresh fruit and vegetables that I run out of.

The weather is set to turn warmer tomorrow and I just can't wait, don't know about you?   My garden seems to be anticipating the sunshine because this morning there is a definite perking up of plants - so much so that I think after lunch I may well go out and give the patio a good sweep.

Thelma (North Stoke) speaks today of finding happiness in small things and I do agree.   Life seems to have been pared down to essentials.  I thought this when my son rang this morning before I had showered.   I stood in the window chatting to him in my dressing gown.   A man from higher up the road passed with his Labradoodle, looked up and waved.   I don't think we have ever spoken before but there was something very pleasing about making a simple contact.

It is three weeks today since I went anywhere other than a walk round the block with Percy (and that only on still days as Percy does not care for the wind) -most of the time I am just not missing going out - I begin to think that it  will be difficult to pick up where I left off.   Time will tell.

I could talk you through my Zoom experience if you like Weave. Email me if you think it would be useful.

Happiness in small things - that is so true. I don't normally pick the flowers in my garden, but this morning, in the sunshine, I picked a variety of daffs/narcissi, hellebores and some snake's head fritillary for my dining room table. We have to go through the dining room to reach the kitchen, so we will see this lovely little group lots of times each day for the next few days. Simple but beautiful. I hope you manage to get out into the garden for a little while today.

Technology complicates everything - even having a cup of coffee.

I don't really like the idea of video conferences. You can't pull a face, roll your eyes or give a vees-up like you can during a simple phone call.

I learned how to Facetime with my sister last week and we laughed so hard about how I was so bothered by how I look on the iPad camera. I couldn't get the right angle to hide my old lady neck and it was so silly but at least it really did give us a good laugh. I use Google Duo to video chat with my grandson and I am always wondering, who is that old lady in the corner of the screen?! So video chat is NOT always flattering but it is fun! Tom is right, tho, you can't look bored and have to pay attention because they can see you! Stay safe, Pat!

The technical side of computers baffles me. I'm a bit reluctant to learn because I know what the people I talk to on the phone look like.

I prefer a phone call or email to visible communication although we do use Skype sometimes when we are in Italy. I have no idea how it works or how to make it work, sorry. Yes good weather forecast, we are holding our breath that there won't be visitors here. The car parks for the moor and some roads across the moor have been blocked off.

Yes there is some truth in what Tom says but the pros don't look at the camera the whole time and just carry on with their chores.

Technology is taking over our life, as of last Christmas I now walk into any room of the house and give a voice command and the light comes on. Before getting out of bed I ask the coffee pot to come on. As of my last birthday when the door bell sounds I can remain in my chair and see and talk to the person on my door step. What has happened to the days when ones children gave you a boring tie?

It's already been much warmer here today than all week, I've been out walking for about 2 hours and it did me good. Unfortunately, O.K. and I can not see each other this weekend (I'll explain on my blog tomorrow or so) but we are well and there is always the phone and other means of communication.
Tomorrow is supposed to get as warm as 20C here; if people are going to be out in crowds, we'll all risk more restrictions - I hope it won't come to that, but wouldn't be surprised.

Technology can be a pain in the butt, it's true, but at least it's quirks and foibles keep our grey cells running, as we try to work our way through the latest maze. *smiles*Stay well and keep safe, Weaver. ♥

I had a treat today. My daughter and her husband came to my window with some shopping for me - we hadn't seen each other since isolation began. We both said 'I can see you!' and then felt a bit foolish.
Looking forward to sitting in the sun tomorrow and enjoying all the spring flowers.
Keep safe.x

I hope your weather does turn warmer. The sun always seems to help us to feel better. We had a few days of sun then it turned cold again but there is hope for next week! Take care Weave!

Rachel - thank you but I think I have cracked it - am having a chat with my friend on Tuesday on it if it works. If it does perhaps you and I could set up a meeting?

Thanks to everyone. Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.

It may be tough to get out all the time but it's very necessary. Here , I have to watch for the ice. I don't know when the snow will melt here.

I have been reading about people on ZOOM that have been hacked into while talking to family and friends.
Just be aware of this.
I am happy to see you visiting with friends. How is your DIL doing with all the virus going around. I hope she and your Son are well.

Zoom is for conferences Weave, not one to one. No zoom calls here except for groups. One to one, phone is fine
