One way to help pass the Easter week end enjoyably is to give yourself a bit of TLC. We can't help the lockdown but we can plan how we spend it - especially if , like me , you live alone. I have decided that throughout this 'crisis' I intend to look after myself and give myself little treats. Today's treat was a special lunch and for that I have to thank Cro, who put an interesting pasta recipe on his post the other day. Today I made it for my lunch. It needed a 'splash' of red wine - a good excuse to open a bottle and have a glass with my lunch! It was a good lunch - so thank you Cro.
When I have finished my post I shall take a couple of magazines outside and sit in the sun and get my daily dose of Vitamin D. And after tea I shall look what TV has to offer and if there is nothing to my liking I shall watch another episode of Inspector Montelbano on iplayer (thank you to Tom for putting me on to him).
Each time I go out into the garden I notice something else is in flower. The good old sun brings the plants out - sun, daylight and a drop of rain now and again (we had a shower here overnight). But before I switch off I shall pop over to my favourite shoe site and buy myself a pair of shoes - has anyone else noticed that self isolation does mean one does not spend money on meals out two or three times a week???

I had debated getting rid of all of my books to free up space, but now that the library is closed, I am very glad I did not follow through. TV is also a good option. We subscribe to Acorn TV which features British programs, which we enjoy very much. Will have to see if any of the other services we subscribe to offer Inspector Montelbano. A friend came earlier in the week for a visit. We sat outside on lawn chairs about 10 feet apart. It worked. I was happy to see her, even if at a distance.
I think a lot of people will look at their finances after lockdown. I think they'll realise their debt is a result of lifestyle rather than actual costs.
I will confess to spending extra on seeds this year - growing more, and can't just go to Wilko or Lidl and buy their bargain packets. However, it is an investment in fresh food, and though I am paying postage on some items it is worthwhile - thinking of the money we have saved on fuel in the last month!
Your lunch looked very tasty and decadent with that red wine! Tam and I had Tuna and mayonnaise and snippets of Garlic Chives (from the garden) and shared a bottle of Henney's cider, which went down a treat - I would never normally drink in the daytime! Very decadent!
Pollen is keeping me on a proper in-house lockdown so I can sympathise with those poor city dwellers locked in their flats when the weather is so beautiful.
No reason at all why you should not treat yourself! Thank goodness for on-line shopping - it's helping many businesses to keep going while their retail outlets are shut, so at least some staff are retained and money keeps circulating.
A splash of red wine sounds good.
It has certainly warmed up here today. I have had to retreat indoors as it is now too hot for me to sit outside.
I'm allergic to red wine but I'll toast your good health with a beer!
What ever keeps you going for the days to pass in the safety of your home is all that matters, for you, the NHS and everybody. We will see light at the end of the tunnel if you keep it up and you will avoid illness.
Yes, we need to give ourselves some little treats to get us through these times.
It is very good to treat yourself! I hope you have a wonderful Easter and will be able to spend time with your son on the phone or perhaps on Zoom. Happy Easter! xx
I have made the most of the lovely weather each day. There are plenty of sitting areas in our communal gardens here and plenty of beautiful plants to enjoy too. It has been so warm that after about 15 minutes I have to retreat into shade.
I don't eat out much but have certainly enjoyed a bit of online shopping since isolating, and stocked up on art and craft materials to keep me going.
Enjoy the sunshine and your treats, and stay safe.
You do right to treat yourself - my sister treated my mum to having her hair washed and set today as of course she cannot go to the hairdressers anymore which was something she always looked forward to. Enjoy this warm weather. x
I am so glad your weather is warm and wonderful. Have a lovely day tomorrow, too.
Good, I'm pleased it was a success. As for money... I haven't visited the ATM for 3 weeks, I'm now wondering how I used to spend so much every week.
Great minds Weave, I made Cro’s meatball recipe yesterday too, that one I shall do again. Happy Easter.

Thanks and a Happy Easter Day!
Happy Easter and hope you have a lovely day.
I keep forgetting to hit the publish button, after commenting on several blogs. Oh My goodness.

I spend most of my time planning food now too. I like your self control with one glass of wine at lunch. I dare not drink at lunchtime. After one, a second one seems like a good idea, and so on...
I love it that you cook proper meals for yourself; so often, I can't be bothered. It is also nice to see you are using a coaster with a bunny on it.
The sun is really making everything out there burst with life. We do need rain, though; it already looks very dry in my area.
I think you have your priorities right!
I think even those of us who don't think we spend much money are saving lots while this lockdown is in force.
Your lunch looks delicious and having to have a glass of wine that you had to open because you needed for your recipe is genius!! I had a couple of glasses of red wine last night while we watched tv, I'm a white wine drinker usually but I have drunk my way slowly but surely through my little stash ;-)
Take care xx
