Thursday

These are strange times aren't they?   My Book Group book for this month is a book about The Black Death (black pustules and all!) - not a book I particularly wish to read at the moment so am putting it to one side for a couple of weeks - see how things go.

My hair appointment has been put off until Saturday as it is 'perm week' so a free day.   This is never a good idea because I get up for my breakfast in my dressing gown and it then becomes difficult to get dressed.   It is now twenty past ten and I am still in my dressing gown and am finding various things to do to hinder my actually getting dressed.   A friend is coming this afternoon to retune my television for me (BBC retunes today) so I really shall have to get under the shower before long.   If I were younger and working from home I would be one of those slovenly ones who work all day in PJs - and it does not make one feel good - it just makes me feel slovenly.

A friend e mailed me this morning.   She went to the Dentist yesterday and waiting to see her dentist seven people came into the waiting room as she sat there.   Not one of them used the Hand Sanitiser prominently displayed.   What will it take up here in The Dales before anyone takes things seriously enough to at least take the sensible precautions the Government advises?

There was a light covering of snow when I drew back the curtains this morning and there was a sharp wind blowing.  The combination was enough to persuade me not to go in to town today.  I shall stay in - the sun shines directly into my sitting room and that makes it feel like Spring.  And sitting here at the computer, browsing, I have found a delightful jumper on the Seasalt site and have ordered it  - so that is something to look forward to.   Something to look forward to is always good for my state of mind.

A strange choice of book. I can’t imagine anybody getting round to reading it this side of Christmas.

I’ve been out gathering wild garlic leaves for my good lady now busy in the kitchen. She sometimes makes soup with them. We’re looking at 22 C today. My hope is the UV kills the corona bugs. I’ve heard they don’t like alcohol so I’m taking a wee dram of firewater now and again!

Your morning sounds very similar to mone today! I am still in my dressing gown and it is now 11:20. Still, I have now finished the household accounts. Just got the filing to do.

Not a good time to read about the Black Death! Something more cheerful needed I think

When your friend retunes, note how she does it. I am using a different setting but still haven't found the setting for the BBC channels. Terrible wind here as well, it whistles down the chimney but the sun is out.

My Mother always got up and had her coffee etc... then got dressed and put her makeup on , fixed her hair even if we had no plans to go anywhere. Its just what you do. And i find i'am the same way.... more or less. After coffee i always get dressed.. fix my hair.. just makes me feel better and ready for the day... however if i'm not leaving the house i do not put make up on... i figure why not give my skin a rest.. Stay warm and safe Pat... and wash your hands.. :) Hugs! deb

A day where I do not have to leave the house for work or other things happens so rarely - maybe once or twice a year, if at all! If it does, I rather enjoy staying in my comfy jumpsuit or dressing gown all day.
When I work from home, which is the case at least one day every week, I always have other things to do that day, such as seeing my parents, shopping for groceries, going to the gym and so on, so I need to be showered and dresses just as if I went to the office.
Hand sanitizer is only effective on hands that are already clean; it does not replace washing hands, and hopefully, people have learned to wash their hands properly from when they were little - at least we did!

I know I would have great trouble getting involved with a book about black death.

Ordering things online can be very exciting. I've just ordered myself 20 packs of Pork Scratchings!!

I think you will find the book very interesting. I would read it now without hesitation.

Not a good choice of reading matter just now!
I like to get dressed each morning - it doesn't feel right doing chores in my dressing gown.
I read the NHS guidelines re Coronavirus and found them reassuring. We might fear the worst but it is not the bubonic plague. 'Keep calm and carry on'!
