Lazy Day

I didn't feel at all well this morning - in fact I didn't feel all that well yesterday either.    So this morning I decided to cancel everything and have a day in bed.   I can't recommend it enough - this evening I feel so much  better.  I breakfasted and then went back to bed with The Times and my book, put on the electric blanket and just luxuriated in not doing anything.   I got up and made myself a bit of lunch, intending to shower and get up and decided instead to go back to bed, which I did.   I stayed until tea time, dozing, reading, just thinking - just a thoroughly lazy day. And after watching an hour's television I am just reading my replies and typing this before going back to bed.   I still feel tired so I am sure I shall sleep the night away too.   There was a time when this would have made me feel so guilty but not any more.  I should do it more often.

Sounds like the perfect way to handle it, bed and warm; perhaps you have a chill. Look after yourself x

It is the kind of day we should all have once in a while - if I wasn't so busy for the rest of the week I might even think about wallowing a little in bed myself - it sounds so tempting while the weather is lashing about outside.

Your body was obviously telling you it needed some rest and recuperation. Hope you are back to your normal self soon.

That was a wise decision and a good thing to do once in a while in the middle of winter. You stay very busy every day so a good day of rest is good for you!

You are so smart to let go of the guilt and have a lie in for rest and recuperation.

A good idea to have a day of hibernation to recover now and again.
Hope you are back to full fitness today

Good for you!

A good idea to listen to your body when it tells you that it needs rest. Everything else can wait! You are so right about not feeling guilty when doing "nothing" - you made your own meals, though, so you didn't do nothing, really.
How do you feel today?

taking a day to sit, relax, read, watch tv is a good thing. You are listening to your body!

I hope you feel better today. A day in bed is good for you every now and then.

I think that was very wise of you. Your body indicated that it needed a good, long rest in order to get back to its best form. The constant dreary weather affects our mood as well, so that day of rest will have restored you inwardly too. I hope you will feel much better as a result. xx

Pat I’ve just finished reading Olive Again by Elizabeth Strout, another in the Olive Kitteredge series and feels like the final one. It’s left me deep in thought about the final stages of old age. Beautifully written but very unsettling! x

Anne - I have just re read both one after the other and I do agree with what you say - but aren't they well written. Isn't Olive such a complex character?

Thanks everyone - Don't feel guilty after reading your comments!!

It's important to check with clock daily, to make sure one sleeps the minimum of 7-8 hours.

She is. I’d want to be her friend but would be nervous of her candour at times. Unputdownable as my father would say of a book he enjoyed.
