Today began sunny but now in mid-afternoon it is just hazy, there is a breeze and it is very cold. We just aren't used to it. I have driven to my Physiotherapist for a work-over and have come back tired and achy - but I know I shall be improved in the morning. My Physio has hundreds of aconites and snowdrops out in her front garden and the path to the church opposite is lined with snowdrops in full bloom. Last week's sunshine has brought them all out and they are a joy to see.
I am sure that in the South of the country there will be plenty of lambs by now, but up here in the Pennines lambing starts much later. We live in the area of the Swaledale sheep and on the whole they tend to lamb in April, so a while to go yet. That will be a real sign that Spring has arrived. In the meantime we can but dream.

I now live in the nearby small town on the edge of Wensleydale in The Yorkshire Dales. My beloved Border Terrier died a couple of years ago - I still miss her but as I am 90 and need carers I shalln't get another I have one son,who lives nearby with his wife, three grandchildren, one step grandchild, two great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren..Life is good.

I could do with a stroll down the garden - see whats out. No sign of the tete a tete daffs as yet which is unusual.
You remind me of a train journey a couple of days ago. There were two elderly ladies sitting across the aisle. It something like this:
1st lady - He looks much better now.
2nd lady - That’s because he’s having physiotherapy.
1st lady - Psychotherapy.
2nd lady - Yes. He goes every week.
I recently saw a short video of baby lambs visiting dementia patients. Lots of cuddling and happy faces.
I intended to go for a snowdrop walk last weekend but the miserable wet weather put me off. Hopefully I'll get out during the week.
There are lots of large looking sheep in the fields here. It won't be long now. X
No snowdrops and aconites out in the front gardens around my house yet, which is strange because birch and hazel are already much more advanced than they should be in January.
We're in for a wet week according the forecast - we do need the water but it will be annoying having to carry an umbrella on my way to and from work.
Near my workshop there are white violets (in the Spring). Saying 'white violet' doesn't sound right to me.
It's a lovely time of year when a stroll round the garden seems to reveal the stirrings of spring with every step. I don't miss the responsibility of keeping it all looking good, but I do miss the stroll each morning. I would be seeing hellebores, snowdrops, crocus pushing up, daffodils too, to name just a few.
I wish it were spring, but it's not. It's still snowing rain.
It's always uplifting to see Lambs in the fields.

Two pullovers and even being steaming hot doesn't cure all bad bones Rachel. Don't be so dismissive - it might happen to you one day.

Mind my own business Rachel? But you removed my comments to Tom regarding the cold from your blog a few days ago - am I not free to make them elsewhere? I suggest you stop being so nasty.
I'm sorry about this, Weave. I imagine that many of your readers are finding this cold exacerbate existing conditions - those that come with age, or, in my case, through something which has caused life-altering problems. One of the reasons I don't have a blog is because, as I pointed out to Rachel the other day (but she removed) my life is like Groundhog Day. I've not left the house since before Christmas, but that is obviously seen as a weakness in Rachel's eyes.
I suggest you start your own blog, veg artist, and have your own platform and followers.
Please ladies - no falling out on my blog -Veg artist - Rachel and I are good friends and have been blogging for years. I do feel better with a couple of pullovers on and I don[t resent Rachel telling me to get another one out of the cupboard.
Veg artist - not sure that in my case it is the cold so much as the damp that causes a flare up of my arthritis - whatever it is winters are always the worst as they obviously are for you too. I suppose really it is just getting old.
