Wednesdays

The fact that the same things happen each week on the same day does tend to make the weeks come round quickly.   I am not complaining;   I like time to whizz by not drag.  Wednesdays are a day in particular because friend S almost always comes after her Craft Class to take Tess for her walk.   Today was no exception.   By the time S came the sun had more or less disappeared which meant that the cold had begun to come down and it wasn#t all that exciting a prospect but it does do Tess such a lot of good and she does adore S.

They arrived back half an hour later and S and I sat in the Sitting Room and put a few things to rights (without once mentioning tomorrow and the election!) before S went home.   I did a bit of admin which needed doing - increasingly I hate doing it and begin to feel scared that I shall do it wrong - old age I think.

Now is time to close the blinds, draw the curtains, turn the heating up a bit and sit down to watch The Repair Shop - a programme which I enjoy tremendously.   To watch these expert skilled craftsmen and women at work is mind blowing.   Maybe hummus on crackers for tea and a piece of fruit - neither take a lot of getting ready and I am feeling lazy today.

Hummus on crackers and fruit is a meal I enjoy, no cooking and easy to clean up, and tasty. The weeks go by quickly for me too, now that I am 10 years retired. Bing and it is Sunday again, bing and it is Wednesday, etc. Enjoy your day.

Hummus and crackers sound good to me. I have only recently discovered a range of sourdough crackers by company named Peter's Yard. Not cheap, but oh so delicious.

I too am a creature of habit and find that time flies by. Sometimes I wonder if time is like money - the pound doesn't go as far as it did, and now the hour is doing the same!
I never miss the Repair Shop if I can help it and think it is the best programme on TV. It never disappoints.
Enjoy your lazy evening.

I love hummus on toast and fruit. Have had it for dinner many times.

How many years have you been eating hummus? More people in Britain eat hummus than any other country in Europe. I wonder why it caught on here. It is not known why. I have never eaten it and it is not a staple of my diet.

Sometimes it takes me a few minutes on waking to remember which day of the week it is and what I have planned. That's when it's useful to do the same things each week.

Rachel - It was recommended by my doctor quite a few years ago and I always buy a pot every week. Also there are a few vegetarians amongst my family and friends - and they eat it so it is a handy thing to have in the fridge. It is also easy to make as long as you keep a tin of chick peas in the cupboard and have olive oil available but I prefer the bought stuff which is often flavoured with other things.

Lately I've skipped the "hummus" part and settled for nakkid crackers, I've been in such a hurry.

Sounds like a good lunch or maybe supper???

I usually make Hummus once a week, and it lasts for two days. When I came downstairs just a few minutes ago, my first thing was to put a tin of Chick Peas out to remind myself. It'll be made in about an hour's time. I love it.

Not sure how far you've got with selecting books for your Book Club, but I've just finished reading "Grandmothers" and it's wonderful!

I love hummus but had it a bit too often for a while, which is why I have not bought (or made) any in quite a long time now. You mentioning it has made me think I might want to have some soon.
Yes, the weeks are just whizzing past, aren't they! It seems like only a few weeks ago that we were getting ready for Christmas last year, and here we are at the same stage again. And yet, looking back at the events of the past 11 months, it does come up to a very full year.

Do enjoy 'Repair Shop' and the craftsmanship it shows. Though they only repair items of sentimental value the range is large. Repair shops are now becoming popular on a more mundane scale, we have a monthly one in the town.

People keep telling me that 'The Repair Shop' is good, but I've yet to see it.

I love The Repair Shop. It is a fascinating programme and very moving at times.

The worst bit is the crying.

I agree Rachel - sadly, at 87, I find it very easy to cry (far too easy) so usually end up crying myself, which is most irritating.

Thanks everyone.
