Band B

First of all I apologise for the quality of the photograph.  My shake is very bad in this hot weather and there was nowhere to rest my hand as I took the photographs.   If I tell you that this was the best of the dozen or so I took you will realise that I did my best.

I love cats and would love to have one.   Pretty sure that Tess would tolerate one - she didn't fall out with the farm cats - but I live on the side of a busy road and the risk of it being run over is too great.

So imagine my delight when I got up early this morning to visit the bathroom and found this monster asleep under my hedge.   It was too dark to photograph him - he was curled round fast asleep.   Two hours later, when I got up, he was still in the same place but not curled up so tightly.   He looked at me with utter disdain, sat up and began his morning ablutions, making sure he washed every inch of himself.   Then he stretched, yawned and sauntered off - no thank-you for what had obviously been his bed for the night.   No call for  breakfast.   Come back anytime you like Mr, Tom - you are most welcome.

Cats and my wildlife garden do not mix and I do everything I can to deter them, as does my terrier, awful things. Very hot today with very high humidity, like being out in a sauna bath all day but it was no problem.

He is beautiful and similar in colouring to my 'pretend' cat. I wouldn't dare to have a real one for the reason you mention.

What a handsome chap! I like having a cat about the place, too. Our little one turned up as a tiny stray about 6 or 7 years ago, and I swear she thinks she's on a piece of elastic as far as living here is concerned. If we can't see her, one call and she comes running home. She's just like a little tabby dog! Hope yours turns up again.

What a sweet surprise for you, so handsome.
No wandering cats here, they are food for a variety of predators, plus I love my wildlife garden too much.

We have cats but they are indoor only. Oliver use to go outside on a lead. only. I have a compleat screened in area for them if they want to go outside but it is just to hot here now.

Cats make a bee line for me, I'm sure they know I'm allergic, I end up running away and they run after me. He is a beauty, I hope he returns.

I would really like to have a cat, too, but the landlord won't permit it, unfortunately. May that tom come to visit you again!

Having always been more of a dog person, I've surprised myself by how much I've taken to cats in recent years. I hope he visits again soon. X

Most cats here are indoor cats as their hunting instincts clash with the bird populations. So, no wanderers in our neighbourhood!

He's one handsome cat.

We used to have a visiting cat, who was very similar. He eventually used to come indoors to sleep. We never fed him, but he was always friendly. 'Thomas' was almost the perfect cat.

We used to have a black cat (family cat) and a white cat (mine, I raised her from when she was 12 weeks old) and always thought about adding a ginger one to the mix, but it never came about. Now that I live the way I do - away almost every weekend, out of the house all day and often half of the night, too - it would be unfair to any pet. Therefore, I'll only think about having another cat live with me when I retire.

Thanks everyone for taking the trouble to reply.

What a lovely cat he is. I love gingers (one of ours, Alfie, is ginger and white). This one looks like he was just grateful for a bed for the night!
