My NewWalker

Well, I have bought my 'DRIVE' four-wheeled walker to help me to walk a little bit further.   Now the next task is to train Tess to walk at the side without weaving back and forth in front of me.   Watch this space.   At present it is parked in the garage.   When I get an opportunity I will photograph it for here.   Too tired to go and do it tonight.

It is hot, humid and oppressive and every movement is almost too much.   I shouldn't complain about the weather (although we had a thunderstorm during the night and all pots got a good soaking) - it is fairly late evening and, according to my mobile, it is around twenty three degrees here, although it is airless and feels much hotter than that to me.

It has been our Poetry afternoon - always a pleasure and today especially so as friend D came.   She has been very ill indeed for some weeks and it is a delight to see her back and what is more in good form.    So welcome back D.   All but one of us there and a good variety of poets - Keats, Hughes, Cope, Larkin, and many more.   It is always hard to remember them afterwards.

And my gardener D came and mowed my lawn and cut back a tree that was getting too big for its boots, and cut off some plants which had finished flowering.   Looks much tidier.   Taxi to Hairdresser in the morning and then Chiropodist just after lunch and a quiet afternoon.

Congratulations on the new Walker. I am sure Tess will quickly get the hang of it! We are not so hot here, thankfully. A very pleasant evening. Enjoy your day tomorrow.

Congratulations on getting your walker. Hope the weather cools enough for you to get out for a test 'drive'! I'm sure Tess will soon learn to keep out of the way of the wheels.
I believe temperatures are forecast to drop a little by the end of the week. I think most of us will give a sigh of relief.

Well done Pat, that was quick and decisive action, good for you.
It got up to 34 degrees here on Sheppey today, with a humid wind. As I write this at 9.45 tonight it is still 80 degrees in my lounge so I'm just going to sit on a cooling patio and enjoy a pink gin.

Back to normal temperatures next week.

Allelujah Rachel. Hope you are right. You could put Tess at the front and get her to pull you along. Husky style. I know thats a silly idea. But its hot and my brain has melted.

Many years ago we had a stick like thing that people attached to bikes used to keep their dogs from running into the front of the bike. Worked really well. Do not know if they still make them.
Winston always walks on my left side. I trained him as a puppy. About the only thing he remembers and will do.
Good luck

May all go well with Tess adjusting to walking with you and the walker!

Well done!
It was 36 C here yesterday, and today the thermometer is supposed to get up another notch.

I expect Tess will learn to keep away from the wheels. Hope the walker will be a great success.

Walker, wheels, hands, dog, legs, walk. The mind boggles.

Whether you need it much as you are walking along is not the only thing. It will provide something to steady you should you need it, take the weight of some shopping, and the fact of using it should give you confidence. I'm sure Tess will come to like it if it means she's out for longer - presumably there's a way of fastening her lead to the frame so your hands are free?

Today has set new heat records here on Sheppey, it was 33 degrees at 11.00 and got hotter during the afternoon, in my conservatory it peaked at 120 degrees. Fortunately, I have the beach several hundred yards from my bungalow and so every afternoon I cycle along the promenade there. The high tide looked inviting, judging by the amount of people in swimming, and so I joined them and boy it was lovely. I've had a fantastic week in this hot weather.
