Good news.

Yes, I have been to see my doctor this morning and he thinks my 'attack' was probably a faint in the hot weather.   He advised me to up my liquid intake and said I could drive as long as I didn't go too far.    Good news indeed.

After the almost unbearable hot weather we had a pouring wet day on Saturday and a few showers yesterday.   When I went out this morning to water and feed my pots they were absolutely bone dry, so I must keep up the watering.   Luckily the really heavy rain has filled my water butt to the brim so at least I am not having to use mains water. Today it is sunny but there is a sharp wind blowing from the west so it is quite bearable typical English Summer weather again.

Because I walk Tess morning, lunch time and evening on most days, everyone around knows me so that wherever I go people speak.   It is so nice.   This morning, unsure whether I could drive or not,  the lady who cleans for me ran me to the doctor's on her way home and my son promised to collect me.   As I sat waiting on a seat at the Medical Centre a lady offered me a lift home.   When I asked how she knew where I lived she said I passed her house every morning with Tess so she knew I lived along the road somewhere.   A dog is a good defining feature.   And what a neighbourly road I live on.

Cup of tea time calls - doctor says I must drink more - so until tomorrow ---

Your doctor must have had a chat with mine because when I was visiting my consultant last week he told me to drink more Prosecco - I noticed though that it was not added to my prescription !

It is always best not to over-think things in my opinion. Now you can relax and get back to normal.

That's indeed good news! And since you already have investigated your possibilities for getting around when not driving, you always have Plan B to fall back on, if need be.
You do have kind neighbours and friends, that is really good to know.

Very good news! I know you were reasoning how you could get around without being able to drive, but so nice that now that isn't an issue. -Jenn

Good news indeed. I am so pleased that it is not as you feared. What lovely neighbours you have. It is heartening to hear of such good deeds still, amongst all the tales of woe and selfishness we are subjected to on a daily basis. I think the suggestion from AHV to drink more prosecco sounds like a very good one to me!

I've been drinking more all summer Pat, but not water I'm afraid.
Back to a lovely hot and sunny day again today after a dull and damp weekend.
Do you watch the Alan Titmarsh series about National Trust houses (he's at Chartwell tonight), last week he was at Petworth House in Sussex. We were there yesterday and what a magnificent collection of Gainsboroughs and Turners and others, paintings that there are there.

That's such good news Pat - so happy. I also agree with Meike (Librarian) that you have been diligent researching what might be available in the future regarding transportation, if needed. Let's all hope those days are far off in the future for those of us now ponding on that coming age when driving on the crazy roads, or being alone, might necessitate assistance in some way.

Regarding liquids - water being the most important! I start the day drinking a glass of very warm water into which I squeeze a lemon. I then fill a 34oz. water bottle with cold water and leave it on the kitchen island next to a glass (dislike drinking from bottles) to drink during the day. I find it hard to drink ice water from the 'frig. I feel that amount, along with coffee and the morning and a cuppa in the afternoon, is plenty of liquid for the day. Oops! Almost forgot, add to that my glass on vino at dinner!!!!!

I won't even touch on the subject of aging bladders, haha!

That's great news Pat. And I'm ever so glad you held on to your darling Tess. X

That's wonderful news! Now you're all prepared if the day should come when you can't drive, so in the meantime, drive safely and keep yourself hydrated. Enjoy the nicer weather!

I think the heat is likely to have overwhelmed lots of people. Glad you are up and running. We can't complain about lack of variety in the weather this fortnight!

Correction Pat - Alan Titmarsh is tomorrow night - not tonight, on Channel 5

Excellent! Are you able to put your 'walker' into the boot of you car yourself, so you can have the best of both worlds - drive to where you want to go, and use the walker to help you walk further and carry shopping once you are there?
We watched the Petworth programme too, Derek. For some reason when we visited we were allowed into the room in which Turner is reported to have painted - it was a long time ago, though. Lovely place.

That's great to hear. And now you know where the buses run, should you need to use them. I don't think any of us drink enough water during spells of hot weather.

That's such good news - you will have breathed a sigh of relief, I am sure. I know I don't drink enough but in very hot weather I find it much easier - I find water more appealing than food then!

I am sure that your stroller will be handy when you are out and about - in your CAR again!!

Pleased to read your good news. I have noticed I feel not faint, but 'out of focus with the world' during very hot spells. Important not to become dehydrated.

Doctors say this to everybody I think, not that I ever go to the doctors, but I guess they have to feel like they have said something. I bet with the amount of coffees you drink in a day you aren't short of drinks. I take most things doctors say with a pinch of salt.

That is good news Pat. You must be so pleased. I am not surprised you were faint - it has been so oppressive and exhausting. Nice people deserve nice neighbours.

I am in awe of the attitude you had when you were thinking you would not be able to drive. You jumped right in and came up with solutions and never stopped to feel sorry for yourself. Not many would have done the same with such a positive attitude. So happy to hear the good news.

Excellent news, the weather is getting cooler, rainer I suppose but you have not been deprived of your car which is a blessing.

Good news indeed Weave. I quite often forget to drink enough water in hot weather. It is amazing how much better you feel when properly hydrated!

It is so lovely to live in a friendly place. We all benefit from the kindliness of the Dales-folk. Good luck with the walker.
