What is that?

A ball has appeared in the sky - can it possibly be the sun?   It is indeed.   On rising this morning it was wet, as it has been all week.   But as the day has gone on it has got gradually better and now the rain has stopped and a weak sun has come out and the temperature has risen to a positively tropical fifteen.   There is a Festival of Food and Drink here this week-end, starting first thing in the morning.   Apart from the main road through the town all other roads are closed so that stalls can be set up so one can but hope they get fine weather for the next couple of days - they must have been anticipating the worst.

I still have no facility to send e mails although I can still receive them.   If it has not righted itself by the end of the week-end I shall ask the computer man to call in and help me.   I have tried every symbol visible around the edges of the e mail page and nothing makes the slightest bit of difference.

Plants in the garden are looking rather sad and bedraggled.   I have three clumps of Silene (a cultivated form of Campon) which have been out for weeks and weeks and have given me a magnificent show.   But this rain has finished them off and as soon as everywhere has dried up a bit I shall go out and carefully cut off all the flower stems.   Luckily I can reach all three plants from the patio so it is a job I can do.   I shall also go out tomorrow and investigate the new long border in the hope that it has survived intact too.   I feel sorry to those who grow roses in abundance as the first find blooms were just coming out on some gardens around the estate the bushes are just a bedraggled mess - especially the really old-fashioned bush roses which have such a delightful smell.   But, sadly, it is one of the perils of gardening - last year too dry and this year too wet.

Out to lunch again today as I am every Friday - today I had pan-fried salmon with fennel and saute potatoes in a buttery sauce - delicious.

Campon, that's an interesting plant name.

The skies have cleared down here too and the moon has just risen above the housetops. I wonder if we'll have a fine day tomorrow. Do hope it's fine for your food festival - so much work goes in to these events and the weather can make or break them.
I tried to gently shake the rain off some of the roses in the communal garden here as the roses were bent right over and one beautiful one had snapped under the weight. So sad when they were looking their best.

Just a thought on your "send" problem... perhaps the button is now below the vision of your screen due to the change of your email application. In the upper right corner of your browser, you can click and change the zoom of your screen. The zoom is typically set at 100. Change it to 80. It will make everything smaller, but perhaps it will enable you to see a "send" button at the bottom of the screen. Good luck!

The arabic commentator has certainly been around; there have been several such comments on other blogs, too. I really wonder if they do achieve what they want - more traffic on their own websites, more sales of whatever product or service they are offering?
Anyway, back to topic. It's been much warmer again here, after we have had a chilly start of the week. Summer is back and I have picked the first cherries through my kitchen window yesterday, and a handful of mulberries from the bedroom window - wonderful!
I dare say the food and drink festival will be well attended, even if there should be the odd shower in between. People love that kind of event, don't they.

Rachel - sorry about the mis spelling - at least I didn't start it with a T! Obviously I meant Campion.

AK Coldweather - thank you. That is exactly how I managed to get the send back on to the screen - I thought I would try it as a last resort and saw it had gone up to something like 180. As soon as I got it back to 100 it was there.

Thanks for your comments everyone.

I thinking we have rainbows. According to press report about 300,000 on parade or attending. It'll be 36 degrees Celsius because it's hazy due to sand in the sky. I had to get up at 4:30 am to run round the park! Yesterday it was 37 C in Bad Goisern the Upper Austrian Alps. We are wilting Pat. It'll be hotter than Karachi later today!

You must be single-handedly keeping the salmon farming industry in profit.

'Look straight at what?' I thought Tom - which just shows how rarely I see the sun.
Now pouring again.
Thanks everyone.
And yes Derek - I am beginning to look rather like a salmon myself!
