Monday

Warm sun, cold wind and plenty of it again.   Now, almost at sundown, just a slight breeze remains and I think I shall have to go out and water some of my plants in the morning as we have had no rain for several days now.

Book Group was, as usual, very enjoyable this morning.   We met at G's and her husband makes delicious scones, which was an extra bonus - and he made the coffee too!   The book was well-received - only five of us there today - three thought it was excellent, one quite good and one thought it not to her liking.   Par for the course I would have thought.   Our next book is 'The Salt Path' by Raynor Winn - a non-fiction book for a change but sounds very interesting.

I have managed three walks around our estate path today with Tess - I manage three on a good day.   That, plus a load of ironing, making up the bed after washing the sheets, cooking a lunch for myself, going to Book Club and an hour of watching Nigel Slater touring the Middle East (Lebanon tonight) looking at Middle Eastern cooking.  Not a bad day all things considered.

That sounds like a very good day to me. For some reason I have been exhausted since lunch time and am about to go to bed. Maybe it is a reaction to the fact that I have just spent rather a lot of money and bought a new bed and an armchair!

You have had quite a busy day! I'm sure Tess enjoys every walk with you. I need a little of you energy to accomplish more each day.

That much of a day would have laid me low. God for you.

I was going to ask how your friends at the book group have liked your suggestion. A great idea to look at non-fiction for a change; I love a good non-fiction read!
Around 30C yesterday, pretty much the same forecast for the next three days - I'll be stuck in conference rooms in Berlin until Thursday afternoon and jost hope they will set the air conditioning neither too cold nor too stuffy.

"No rain for several days? - it was only on Saturday that you wrote that it was raining.
Anyway, today Tuesday, I've just got up in a cottage in a very remote part of Exmoor to find that it's pouring hard with rain and is set to do so most of the day. Would of been very welcome on the dust bowl of Sheppey but is not what I wanted here, with a day exploring the moors planned!

Another busy day for you, but sounds very satisfying. We had one dry day yesterday but the rain is back again this morning and set to continue most of the week. Flaming June?

Hot and dry in the east still.

I recommend Eleanor Oliphant by Gail Honeyman for your bookclub. It is a cover to cover read in one sitting. I am sure you will all enjoy it.
