Tired

Today has been my six weekly physiotherapy day and I have returned very tired.   It is always a gruelling session as she works on the various joints she knows intimately by now.   But she definitely keeps me mobile - well as mobile as I shall ever be at my age.

Although I was tired I came back determined to finish clearing and reorganising my wardrobes.   I have just hung the last lot of winter things on the clothes line and all summer clothing is now hung neatly in the wardrobe.   I do this every year and for a time at least it all stays that way.   And it does give me a chance to assess just what things I need, if any.

And, true to form, the weather here is very much cooler today.   There is a sharpish Easterly blowing straight in from the North sea.   Anyone on holiday and making sandcastles on the beach at Scarborough will need winter woollies on.

Looking out of the window of my computer room I see the ash tree in the field and there is not yet a single leaf on it - it is still bare and wintry.   Now I need an oak tree for comparison so that we can make a stab at what the summer will be like from the old rhyme - 'if the ash before the oak, then we're in for just a splash.  But if the  oak before the ash then we're in for quite soak'.   This predicts what summer will be like (in theory).   I hope I have it right way round - not that it actually makes a lot of difference either way where these old rhymes are concerned.

In spite of my aching muscles I now need to take Tess for one last walk round before I shut everywhere up for the evening.   I shall certainly need a coat on - the sun might be shining but it is no longer warm.

Ah, I hadn't heard that saying before. We don't have any Oak trees nearby so cannot compare. It is, however, still quite warm and sunny over here on our island but there is some light rain on its way for the weekend. I am glad that your physiotherapy has helped. My husband swears by it for all his running injuries. He says that it hurts like blazes during the treatment but is worth it afterwards!

We certainly noticed that Easterly wind this morning out on our bikes. It's been a very windy day here.

Ash is only just starting to put out leaves here - oak has been out since early April. Think we're in for a hot summer again. Time to start saving water I think as we nearly ran out last summer.

I was told once that either the oak or the ash is more affected by daylight hours and the other by warmth - can't remember which is which so it depends on how cold it is just as leaves are due to emerge......... but I prefer the rhyme!

I've always known it as "oak before the ash, in for a splash" and "ash before the oak, in for a soak!. Here like Bovey Belle, the oak has been out for ages and ash just showing.
The cold east wind has been blowing here for a few days and was quite strong today.

It has been a little cooler here today and this evening a large bank of cloud is building up. I think we may have rain tomorrow. I'll probably need a jacket for my morning walk.
Hope you wont ache as much tomorrow or feel as tired.

Lots of warm sunshine here today, but until the ground is warm, the air will not be warm.

Yes, it's going to turn colder and wetter over the next few days Weave.

Changed here too this morning, there was light rain at 5.30 am. It will save me from watering the garden.

Think it may be the other way round. Oak before ash in for a splash, ash before oak in for a soak. So it rhymes.

The golden globe is up n the sky and I've had my hair cut short for summer. The holy ice men and cold Sophie have packed their bags and gone away. Hope it doesn't turn cold and gloomy again.

I LOVED it when I read it some years ago.

ife in NY is much the same as ever.

It's amazes me when I visit my friends in Scarborough that, no matter HOW COLD it is on a summer's day, the toursis are STILL walking around in spaghetti strap tops, short shorts and sandals..while I'm wrapped up in a fleece!! And they dress their babies the same..bare feet, sunsuits....it boggles the mind!
