At last a Summer's Day.

It has been a perfect day here today - three loads of washing done - I hope I am not tempting fate by washing my thick woolly jumpers so that they can dry outside and be put away.   Tomorrow will be the day to get out the T shirts, wash them (and yes I did wash them before I put them away last Autumn) and dry them outside while the weather holds.

In addition to this I have done several other jobs - or had them done for me is perhaps nearer the truth.   My cleaning lady came as she usually does on a Monday morning.   While she was busy the young man from Lifeline came and together we set up the service.   For anyone who doesn't know this is a service for elderly people who live alone to put them in contact in an emergency.   I now wear a device on my wrist when I am out and about around the house so that if I fall I can press it and speak into a microphone telling 'headquarters what my problem is.   They are then able to contact my son so that help is at hand.  I didn't want the service but I have to be realistic with my mobility problem (which is always worse in this warm weather.

Then my handyman came and fitted me a new knob on the bathroom door - not a perfect fit but as near as we shall get and at least now I shall be able to get in and out of tthe bathroom without getting stuck in there - and so will any guests.

Two dog walks, lunch and tea prepared and eaten and now time to gather in the line of dry washing, iron it and put it on the airer, take the dog for another short walk and settle down for the evening.   Another day like today forecast for tomorrow.   But sadly not likely to last until the weekend, when I shall be meeting friends on Friday at our Creamery in Hawes for lunch.  If they are reading this then the table is booked!

Well done for being so proactive and filling each day, an example to us all that there is more that you can do than just mope around indoors feeling bored.

I feel exhausted just reading this and I am 20 years younger than you!

Isn't it lovely to have a few fine days in a row? So good to have all the windows open while I have been busy scaling down and sorting out again. When I moved here just under 18 months ago I think I must have just stuffed things into drawers and cupboards in my sewing room, without much thought. I has been lovely to rearrange them in a more practical way and rediscover things I had forgotten about. If the weather takes a turn for the worse I shall enjoy playing with my 'toys' now I can find them easily.
Enjoy your weekend.

You must like washing and ironing a lot more than I do! Not that I've been idle - I've been out and about all day, reasoning that the house can't get untidy if I'm not in it.

You certainly pack more into your day than I do. The spirit is more than willing but I give up on the flesh. Good weather here too.

Rachel - I think my clothes would be the same all year round if I lived in East Anglia - you do seem to catch some cold winds.
I don't particularly like washing and ironing but I do like things in order and that means sorting things out. My flesh is always weak as my ankles always hurt, especially so in this warm weather. But I also know that inactivity just makes them sieze up and get worse.

I remember you saying that if you fall, then you can't get up again, so your alert system sounds a really good idea. You'll probably feel safer just knowing that someone is 'on call'.

Last year my Mom fell and spent the night on the bathroom floor, and since then has had a similar system to the one you have, with the button on a wristband. It does give us all a little peace of mind. The company we have provides a lockbox for the door that holds a spare key. If needed they would give the combination for the lockbox to the emergency services so they could get in without breaking the door.

You have achieved a lot in your day. The emergency device is a smart idea and provides peace of mind for both you and your family.

My mothers' 90 plus year old friend had Life line. She showed me where she kept it, on the bureau in her bedroom! I scolded her for not WEARING it, and she told me she could get it if she needed it ( this is a woman who fell a few years before and wasn't discovered for a day)....glad you're wearing yours!
Cold and rainy here..the ground is beyond saturated...looks like another very wet year on the East coast of the US. Enjoy your lunch!!! I'm envious!

What a very nice word 'Creamery' is. It makes me want to go there too!

It isn't Summer yet. I thought it was still Spring.

I must get my summer clothes down from the loft ( in vacuum bags) and sort them out. Like you, I need to have them all sorted out and washed/ironed too. Good on you for organising the Lifeline thing. Hope you never have to use it, but it’s there if you do and no doubt your son is happier that you have it. Despite the forecast in your neck of the woods, I hope the good weather last until your Creamery date with your friends :)

Another heap of washing and ironing done while this weather lasts.
It is my daughter in law's special birthday today so we are going out for a celebration meal tonight too - I am doing well this week.

Thanks everyone.
