This and that.

Because friend S is away for a few days she was unable to take Tess for her Wednesday walk this week.   I took her round the estate before I went out and again when I got back - I went to a special exercise class for the over sixties.   It was very good indeed.   I have come back and have already stiffened up - but I have learned a lot of new exercises to do to help my mobility and the teacher also gave me a sheet of exercises designed to help with balance, which is exactly what I need.

I wasn't sure what stage had been reached with Mr and Mrs Blackbird - but now there is little doubt.   Of Mrs Blackbird there is no sign and all day today Mr Blackbird has been sitting in the hawthorn tree singing his beak off.   The weather has been nigh on perfect - warm and sunny at last, although now - almost seven o'clock in the evening, it is quite cold and I have switched on the heating.

I have a large clump of daisy-like flowers in my garden and they will soon be out.   I climbed the steps to look at them this morning and found them absolutely covered in ladybirds -presumably emerging from their winter sleep.   There must have been fifty at least - yes - things are really waking up at last.

I wish ladybirds were only outside. I have many in the house and I hate their smell.

'Singing his beak off'. I like that, Weave.

Don't a lot of ladybirds mean it is going to be a good summer? I heard that somewhere, but don't know if it's true or not.

It was nice to feel a bit of warmth today. I hope your ladybirds were the proper English ones and not the nasty invasive harlequins

It's been really warm down here today, almost impossible to recall just how cold and windy it was just a few days ago. I hope the exercises have the required effect, I know they can really help.

Things are improving down here too and we are promised a fine warm day tomorrow and hopefully for the weekend.
I found a ladybird in my kitchen last week so let it out onto a sunny window ledge.

I believe the right kind of exercise can do a world of good. We go to an over 60s (Silver Sneakers) exercise class twice a week and have for nearly two years now. There are several members of that class in their 90s and that tells me it must be helpful! I am so happy to hear you are seeing the arrival of Spring! It is here too and our redbud is blooming and the world is turning green again.

I want to find an exercise class like the one you are attending. Spring is in the air, as the blackbirds and ladybugs will attest.

Does that mean Mrs. Blackbird left home?

Interesting that the flowers are still coming up even with the bad weather.
Hope Mr and Mrs Blackbird mean spring is almost there.
I need to find a class like yours.

cheers, parsnip

Oh no! Mrs. Blackbird left him?

I like to think that Mrs Blackbird is sitting on a nest close by and Mr Blackbird is serenading her while she broods her eggs.

It's all in the genes.

These things are sent to try us. In a hot tub I let my aches and pains (as yesterday - strained thigh) float away as I dream of the summer days to come. I've always been my own medic. It's nearly 20 years since I've seen the doc and then I declined his pills and potions and colleague with surgical knife and lucky for me went in search of a physio and found just the right one - ten sessions and I was done. Long may it continue. Hope your soon bouncing with rude health.

Joan I thought it was swallows not ladybirds.

Thanks everyong. I didn't mean to give the impression that Mrs Blackbird had left him - I expect she is somewhere close by sitting ontheir eggs.
