Rain

As I look out of the window at 7.15pm it is raining heavily outside - how we need it and how perky the gardens look already, although it has only been raining for about half an hour.  A couple of days non stop would do a lot of good but too much to hope for I expect.

Poetry this afternoon was, as usual, an afternoon of beautiful, varied poems.   Everyone seems to take time to choose their contribution and we always get a lovely selection.

Tess was very lucky.   Friend S called yesterday instead of today to take her on her walk, but I took Tess to poetry and no sooner had I got there than S and T took her off on a lovely extra walk along the river.  She came in, ate her tea and is now fast asleep in her bed. I rather feel like going off myself but would probably wake around three in the morning, so must control my urges until at least 10pm.

No poetry for Tess then.
It's been threatening to rain all day here but apart from a few big spots at lunch time it's been a dry day.

It has been raining here since late afternoon and the garden appears to be thankful for it. It smells amazing too. X

My Mum and I managed quite by coincidence to escape the shower that came down here early this evening - we were shopping for clothes in our favourite clothes shop in town. They were celebrating their 100th anniversary and apart from 20 % on everything, there were free prosecco and nibbles for us (on invitation). A lot of fun and good finds, plus a chance for my Mum to get out of the house and do something fun that did not involve my Dada, for a change.
Your poetry afternoons always make me want to try this out myself, but I'm afraid that will have to wait until I and at least some of my friends will stop, working full time.

We had rain forecast for this afternoon and it finally arrived around 5 p.m. Hopefully it will be enough to water in the new vegetables that P has just planted. They dried out a little while we were away this past week.

Lucky you with the rain, we had a shower at 11.00 and I think my sweaty brow shed more drops than that. So my garden continues bone dry and cracking. Mostly today has been very warm, sunny and windy.

I timed my trip to do a weekly shop just right. I felt the first few spots of rain as I returned home. We had a lovely gentle soaking for two or three hours, then the sky cleared and we enjoyed more sunshine. There are some weeds under my window so I hope the rain has loosened them enough for me to get them out. Just off to bed myself - sweet dreams.

Oh, that's funny. Many evenings I could be in bed by seven, but have to hold up until at least ten. This old stuff is not for sissies!

Further to my comment above, the heavy rain forecast for early this morning has now passed through, turning out to not be heavy or prolonged, so back to the watering can!

Hope the rain reached Ilkley Moor and dampened down those awful fires.

Floods tomorrow. Fear not.

No rain yesterday here but a brief heavy shower this morning. The rain gauge says 2ml not enough to do any good.

In answer to Rachel, then myself, dog and two tortoises will be ready to board the Ark if it comes by.
