Coffee Mornings.

It was our village coffee morning this morning and it struck me just what a useful and good occasion it really is.   Because I have not lived in the village for some years - on the farm I lived just outside the village boundary and now I live in the neighbouring town about a mile away - there are many folk there I don't know.   But that doesn't matter in the least - everyone is friendly, everyone chats to you, all kinds of subjects crop up in the conversation and it passes an hour and a half on a Saturday morning once a month.   And in addition A always makes her turkey and red lentil lasagnes, I always buy two, eat one for my lunch and freeze the other one.   Today was no exception.

Now, as an experiment, I have a Ratatouille in my slow cooker.   I don't know what it will taste like but it certainly smells good.   As I am out to lunch tomorrow and again on Monday I shall probably just have a taste and then freeze the rest because the recipe tells me it freezes well and tastes even better when reheated.   We shall see.   But P, if you are reading this, this may well appear on the menu when you both come to stay in three weeks time.

Today has really been a 'proper' Spring Day.   The sun has shone all day, there has not been a breath of wind and I still have not put the central heating on at 7pm.   Tess has had three walks, one of them down the fields and she also came to the Coffee morning with me (she likes that because somebody always gives her a biscuit) (you know who you are). A few days of this weather and I think we will all feel better for it.

I do like a good chat & would very much enjoy falling into conversation with folk in the village.

May your Ratatouille turn out well!

Lucky you with the weather. It has been really cold, very gloomy, never fully light, and drizzly - haven't been warm all day.

My weekly coffee morning has helped me get to know people in the village, I'm almost starting to look forward to it!

Ours is just once a month like you but I still meet up with friends once or twice a week to catch up with things and put the world to rights.

I'm out to lunch permanently these days Weave.

I've never heard of turkey and lentil lasagna but it sounds delicious! Tess must be a very well behaved dog to go into a room full of strangers and behave well enough to get a biscuit!

"Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it."

I thought that this was an apt comment from the Danish philosopher Soren Kiekegaad.

I haven't spoken to anyone for days except on blogs. Thank heaven for blogging.

I thought the same as you, Pat, it was a proper spring day. Or as Lily put it, 'a glorious morning!' X

How odd the weather is in this country! We live not far from you in Yarm and it has been cold and gloomy all day not a sign of the sun.Glad it was nice in Leyburn.

How infuriating that blogs are subject to uninvited comments.
Having said that, how lovely the fine spring days are - they leave us eager for more to follow. We have to make the most of the good days when they arrive. I miss my garden at this time of year, but not the effort it required to keep it looking good!
Hope you have another lovely day today.

Apologies for my tardiness in commenting - I was a little under the weather this morning. Self inflicted I am ashamed to say. How was the ratatouille? I haven't made one for ages. You have reminded me that I really should remedy that soon.

Yes we are all agreed - a good chat - and good walk -quite ordinary things but they enhance our feeling of well being.
JayCee - haven't tried the ratatouille yet - I will report back. Might even blog about it later.

My computer is going on strike tonight - I can no longer get at my e mails and everything seems to be going haywire, so there might well be a delay for a day or two.

You do make me smile Weave. This last comment of yours is priceless.

Message from BT to say they are dealing with it all but no luck so far.
