Back again!

No posting for a few days because having a two year old with her mum and dad and then her grand parents for some meals makes posting drop to the very bottom of the list.   My great-grand-daughter is really interested in family relationships at the moment and kept asking repeatedly who we all were.   I showed her this photograph of me at around her age - she was fascinated but perhaps not really able yet to
take it all in.   The photograph is not all that unlike her - there is obviously a family likeness as there is in us all.

Such a pleasure to see them for a couple of days - I don't see them all that often - but how tiring.   I am only just getting my legs back to working at all.

To anyone interested I made a delicious Butter bean salad (my grand daughter is vegan) and it suited us all.   The recipe is a Guardian Feast recipe and easily available on the internet.

Other things to report - well first of all the weather.   Tess and I have just been for our afternoon walk and it is really bitter cold.   There was a sleet shower as we walked and I think we were both pleased to reach home again.   Tess was immediately sick on the hall carpet - not surprising as she had been eating grass all the way on our walk.   My  plants have been holding a summit to discuss going back into the earth - they can't seem to agree (the usual outcome dare I say) and are staying put, but they do not look happy today in the cold North wind.

Warmer weather again by the week-end we are promised.   Meantime, ignoring my gas bill (which came this morning), I shall turn the central heating up a tad, sit back and put my feet up.

We're having a run of yo-yo days here on Sheppey. Saturday was warm and sunny all day, Sunday was cold, grey and gloomy, yesterday was very warm and sunny and today is cold, grey and rainy this afternoon - first rain for three weeks!
Tess seems to be sick every few days, are you happy that she's OK.

You haven't changed at all. I can see it's you. Your great-grand-daughter definitely has the family look too, I remember the baby photos you showed.

Glad to see you back, I was worried about you. I love that photo. You look quite serious there though. We have had similar weather here today - bright and sunny followed by a hail shower then sunshine again. I hope your garden flower summit meeting is more successful than the Brexit negotiations!

After your busy time with family you deserve to sit back and have a rest, well done.

That is a beautiful photograph - those wonderful eyes. I recognised that it was you, straight away. How lovely to have members of your family visiting, but I can imagine how tiring too. Glad you have turned up the heating a notch and put your feet up. We have had a day of many parts down here - pouring rain this morning, then spring returned for an hour or two, then a lusty hail storm, a bit more sunshine and then more rain. Now the sun is shining again. Who knows what tomorrow may bring.

I really don't know about Tess's health Derek. I keep my eye on her but she is eating well, has masses of energy and has six or seven mile walks two or three times a week. It is almost two years since the vet questioned whether she might have cancer and told me to keep an eye on her - and I do that and live in hope.

This afternoon we have had pouring rain, hail, wet snow and bitter winds. Now it is evening and the sky is clear blue but it is very cold.

Well she certainly seems to be OK then Pat, let's hope that's so.

Lots of love to Tess and you. Keep warm it has certainly turned cold here in Coventry. We had a hail storm today and torrential rain. My seeds are just starting to germinate let's hope for warmer weather.x

That is a lovely picture of you as a child! I'm sure it was wonderful to be able to spend time with your great-granddaughter but at that age they will wear you out fast! I hope you and Tess stay warm and have a nice evening.

I have sowed Broad Beans, Red Onions, Mangetout Peas, and Beetroot. Only the Broad Beans have been brave enough, so far, to show their heads!

So you have always had a fine set of eyebrows, Weave. I like strong eyebrows on women.

It is not as cold as I thought it would be but yesterday was mostly rain and then a very heavy hail storm, but everythink in the garden hold up their heads once the light frost has gone.

Temperature here has dropped dramatically this afternoon; on Monday, we were at 20C and are now down to about 5! No sleet just yet, but a nasty cold wind and rain, and that just when my cherry tree is showing its very first blossoms of the year.
Sorry to hear Tess was sick again, but from your reply to Derek, it sounds that she's really well.
That photo of you as a little girl is wonderful! You have such a wide awake, interested expression in your eyes, like a child that absorbs every bit of information about the world around her.

I can agree with you about having visiting youngsters - my little granddaughter has me playing Dominoes, Uno, Pairs, Snakes & Ladders and other board games when she is here. Last weekend we made clay tealight holders which she then painted to look like flowers - one of them was a gift for me on Mothering Sunday! I love her to bits but I'm always relieved to get my home back to myself after I've taken her home again! Just had another fierce hailstorm and now back to blue sky and sunshine. Bitterly cold, though. Brrrr!
