Temperature

The temperature is more than ten degrees colder then it was yesterday.   It is six degrees here today, the mist has not cleared, the sun has not appeared, there is a cold wind blowing.   In other words it is typical late February weather.   I shall be glad to get all the blinds drawn and the central heating turned up full  - that is what I crave at the present moment.

I have a new book to recommend.  It only came  out in paperback at the weekend but I managed to get a good used copy from Amazon and am enjoying it so much.   It is Aminatta Forna's 'Happiness' and I really can't put it down.   Do give it a try and let me know what you think of  it.

What is it about the actual sun that makes us feel so much better?   Yesterday when I walked round with Tess early in morning all the birds were singing, even the Songthrush.   This morning only the robin was breaking the early morning silence.
Please Mr Sun come back soon - after what I can only describe as a Brexit winter I think we are all in need of some warm spring sunshine - and it will give us something else to think and talk about.

Much cooler here today too Pat, but warmer than you and we still have the front door wide open, as we do all summer. I think the joy of having those few days borrowed from summer is that after the long wet and cold autumn and winter it cheers us up, and lets us realize spring isn't too far away. We enjoyed it whilst we could and hope we have a reasonable summer this year (but please NOT so hot or protracted as last year's which upset my asthma.)

Enjoy your new book. Off to check it out.

We are sitting in parlor with the fire blazing and the central heating turned to 72. I want summer!

We have had two spring days in a row here they are cool but not cold. Jacket weather. I agree we all are tired of this cold weather it seems like it has gone one way too long.
Thanks for the info on the book. I am going to see if I can find a copy on Amazon.
Take care and stay warm.

Just ordered the book and am having it sent to my mother. She'll read it first and then pass it on to me. She was just asking me yesterday if I'd read anything good lately. We had 6 inches of new snow last night with the possibility of more this weekend, so spring is seeming very far away.

Feels like February again! I must make a note of that book, I need a change from murder mysteries with the inevitable twist.

For us, it was the warmest day of the week, of the month and of the year (so far) all in one! Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, and grey with possibly some rain. It has been very windy all day today, so I guess those clouds are been blown in as we speak.

Very disappointing here today, grey skies, a chilly wind and now this evening, rain. Back to bloody winter and how depressing!
Did you see the Yorkshire Vet the other night and that huge cancerous lump that was cut out of that little dog's abdomen.

It is back to normal temperature here today. I am alright with that.

It feels much colder again here today, a far cry from Tuesday when we were paddling in the lake. X

And the sun was so bright this morning I could barely see. But, still cold.

So many signs of Spring but Winter hasn't done with us just yet. Our winters are seldom very bad but don't half drag on! Spring is my favourite time of year.
Thank you for the recommendation for the book - I will try to get a copy.

No Derek I didn't see the Vet programme as it clashes with something else I wanted to watch - hope to catch up on it over the week end though.

Thanks for calling in everyone.

Sun is a cure for depressions. I so hope it peeks out tomorrow.

Notice Bovey Belle put an interesting link on F/B about walking barefoot apparently it will cure a many of the 'ills' of society today, connecting with the earth sends magnetic forces through the body. Now I know you could not do this Pat but an intriguing theory. And yes the weather is cold, far too cold for walking around barefoot...

I read Forna's book "Happiness" last year and just loved it. Parts of the story still surface in my thoughts, just out of the blue. She is a wonderful writer/storyteller. I would also highly recommend her book "The Hired Man".

Thanks for the book recommendation. I've ordered it and am looking forward to reading it. My turn at hostessing our book club is coming up and have been on the look out for a book to suggest. I wish Michigan's weather was showing signs of Spring but we are still in the throes of Old Man Winter.

I’ve been enjoying your blog for quite a while now but this is my first post. Your mention of ‘Happiness’ interested me; I read the Guarduan review and ordered it straightaway from The Book Depository. I do enjoy your writing and your descriptions of English life (I live in Australia).
