To snow or not to snow?

Yesterday I booked my car in for its major service today - twenty miles away.  Then I watched the weather forecast - snow maybe.   First thing this morning I rang and cancelled.   The garage said the service would take two to three hours and I could have a courtesy car.  I couldn't see the point of driving home to almost immediately have to turn round and drive back so I declined and said I would take my book and sit in the warm showroom by the coffee machine and have a trip over the road for an hour to have a mooch round a really nice shop.   Then when snow was forecast
I pictured sitting there watching the snow getting worse and knowing I had to drive home through it.

Well it has rained/snowed most of the day but only the really wet stuff.   But at tea time I noticed  my car windscreen was heavily iced so it will be interesting to see what morning brings.

The electrician has been here all day again doing my bungalow check - there are still a few more things to do.   I am having the  little ceiling lights removed in the bathroom and a central bathroom light put in.   The decorator popped in for a minute and he is going to come and plaster up the four holes and then emulsion the ceiling.   It will be so good eventually to have that all important certificate that the electrical work is all in order.

Snow permitting I am going out for lunch with a friend tomorrow.   As for the car service  = it is going to have to wait for some better weather.

The snow has been on and off all day here too. Huge flakes one minute, pouring with rain the next. Yet just a few miles away roads are blocked and the ploughs are being kept busy, so you are wise not to take a risk going out uneccesarily. X

No reason to drive in snow, or worry about driving in snow when you can just reschedule. I always think the snowplow drivers, cops, rescue personnel, tow truck drivers and regular drivers who must go out are happy to have one less nice gray-haired lady in a 2006 Toyota out there to have to cope with in the cold, wind, and snow - and I always opt to stay home and make it so.

A wise move Pat, no point in tempting fate.

I just looked out of the window and it's snowing here. Best to stay tucked up in the warm for a few days.

It's not worth the risk with the weather that's forecast. Regarding those little ceiling lights so beloved of house renovators - I hate them! If only people would realise that no one over 50 wants to be coping with dozens of bulbs all over the place, so high up. Whilst I can still change a pendant bulb (just), arthritis would certainly prevent me climbing and fiddling with something at ceiling level.

It feels wonderful to know that mechanicals are maintained.

I agree, better to just cancel instead of going back and forth worrying if the weather will be okay and trying to second guess Mother Nature. It's snowing like crazy here now right at the time everyone has to drive home from work. Another reason to be glad I'm retired! Stay warm!

I'm praying for 2 feet. (I'm greedy).

That would be my priority, too. Lunch over car service.

I never have my car 'serviced'. If at its biannual roadworthiness check, they say that a bulb has gone, or the brakes are a bit weak, I simply have it fixed.

On Monday, the weather here could not decide whether it wanted to rain or to snow, either. It was an unpleasant, grey, cold, wet and windy day, and I was glad I did not have to go out more than once that day.
Yesterday, Tuesday, was very different: Sunshine and blue skies almost all day, making me long for a walk, but all I could do was to admire the sunshine from behind my office window. By the time I left work, there was still about half an hour's worth of daylight left, but arriving home it was dark enough to have the blinds down and lights on.
Good to know the work at your bungalow is coming to an end!

I think you made the best decision as you said you would have sat and worried that it was getting worse.
