Sunshine.

What a difference a day makes.   Yesterday was grey and dismal - as was my mood.   Today it is warm, the sun has shone all day and I am pleased to say that my mood has lightened.   Friend S called and took Tess for her afternoon walk.   I walked with them for a short while and when they walked off Tess never gave me a backward glance.  Nothing beats a walk - she would sell her soul for one.

I walked back home alone, put on the coffee for their return and browsed through a book on slow cooking which I couldn't resist buying and now intend to start using - my slow cooker has not been used much over the Summer .   Yesterday in The Times the long range weather forecast suggests that conditions are building up in the Arctic similar to the way things went last year so that we could be in for 'The Beast from the East' again early in the New Year.   I shall fill my deep freeze just in case.

Various flashing lights around continue to drive me mad so I pull the curtains early to shut them out.   Might seem a bit Scrooge-like to you but really they are so distracting.   I am beginning to feel a bit Christmassy.   Friend S brought me a jolly Santa to wear on my Christmas jumper - I will photograph it to show you tomorrow and will wear it when I go out to lunch on Christmas Day.
I shall now go and toast my Crumpets.   Make of that what you will John, Tom and Cro!

We seem to be sitting in the same weather pattern--present and future. May the Beast from the East never materialize. But I will absorb the sunshine while I can.

A gift of sunshine is always wonderful! I like some Christmas lights but I agree with you on the flashing ones, they are distracting from the beauty of the holiday to me.

My daughter and son-in-law had arranged to take me out yesterday and I wondered if they would change their minds given the awful weather conditions, but they turned up on time and we had a lovely day in spite of the constant rain and wind. Glad you feel brighter today - a bit of sunshine makes all the difference at this time of year. Not looking forward to the Beast from the East but what will be, will be.
Toasted crumpets - oozing with butter - yum!

No sunshine down here on Sheppey, or warmth. A wet and gloomy start begun a day of heavy showers and early darkness - so depressing.

Yes , a bit of sunshine makes everything much brighter .
I’ve just found some frozen crumpets at the bottom of the freezer , breakfast sorted for tomorrow. x

Talk of sunshine often reminds me of the old Morecambe and Wise joke about two old men sitting in deck chairs. One says to the other: it's nice out today isn't it? The other replies: yes it is but you'd better put it away, there's a policeman coming.

A drop of sunshine makes us all feel better.

Oh dear me Gwil - between us we are lowering the tone today!

Glad to hear you are feeling brighter today. We will make sure this time we don't get stuck in Scotland if there is another Beast on its way.

It was a lovely day here yesterday too; so much so that I did my washing. At about 4.30 pm I heard thunder, so rushed out to bring-in the 'mostly' dry washing, and the heavens opened! It's all go here.

Some very welcome rain yesterday, and possibly a few more showers today. The forecast is for a warm-ish weekend, thus a green-brown Christmas rather than a white one, I guess.
Good to know you are feeling better again, Pat!

Yes, my mantra is pretty much Scarlett O'Hara's - tomorrow is another day :) When I'm down, I know it will pass. Glad you are feeling better today! The flashing lights phenomenon is interesting - I was noting that here in my neighborhood we have little of that - lots of lights, but few flashing...

Glad you are feeling better Grandma. It is difficult with so little daylight and the weather makes it tricky to get out much (for me it is of course having the little one in tow). I definitely feel that the weather affects my mood a lot too. Looking forward to seeing you over the holidays x
