Energy

More proof that my three days away has done me good.   Today I have had more energy than I have had for many months.   Getting up early and stripping the bed, putting on a load of washing,  pegging it out rather than putting it in the drier (it is a cold but breezy day and I thought it would do my sheets good to be out in the fresh air).  Taking dog down the Lane for quite a long walk (well wrapped up because it really is very chilly), coming home and cooking lunch for myself.

Now friend E has just called with some field mushrooms collected in what used to be our pasture.   I think I shall have them on toast for my tea with  garlic and pepper. That's it for today - my mouth is watering at the mushroom prospect.

We haven't picked mushrooms round here for 2-3 years due to the dry autumns. Having said that, it's actually been raining steadily here all day today, with another session of steady rain due tomorrow morning, it's also chilly. But fortunately, next week looks warmer and sunnier.

Yes you do sound perky, long may it continue, A chance if scene must be the answer. I am feeling exhausted which I put down to the ongoing heat and waking before 6. Not a huge problem as I can snooze in the afternoon but so nice to be bursting with energy isn’t it.

What a super day Pat and so good to hear that your little break has cheered you up and given you energy. Please send some this way as I have a friend and husband suddenly popping in tomorrow and Home Economy here has been on the back boiler as I've not had a full day here all week - and the one before that!

I bet those mushrooms tasted fab!

Not a day for pegging out washing down here today. Glad you feel better for the break.

You have been busy - I love to get my linen outside for a good blow - I often put the duvet out too on a windy day.
Enjoy the mushrooms - I haven't eaten field mushrooms since I was on holiday in Ilfracombe!

I really believe it's the cool weather - here in Wisconsin we went from 90 one day to 62 the next - Last night it was 41 and I got up energized and ready to go - Also washed bedding - hung outside and am now going to dig up and move some hostas. It my case it really is the cool down. We had a terribly wet and hot summer. I can only hope the Fall Season here will last a few months so I can do everything I didn't get done this summer. Glad you enjoyed your mini-trip. Sometimes they are the best. Take care - love reading your blog. Mary Ellen

Yum. Only mushrooms we get growing here are deadly poisonous. Apparently.

Isn't it lovely to have an 'energy' day? I think it has rained continuously all day here today, but I did get my walk in before it really got going.
Field mushrooms - what a treat. I haven't tasted them for many years but can remember gathering them in my childhood. Their flavour is unbeatable.

Mushrooms on toast are such a tastey meal. I like mine either poached in a little milk and water, or fried in butter, add a shake of black pepper before serving on hot buttered toast.

My wash was out as well today. Now it's in and back on the bed so I will have a lovely fresh sleep tonight!

Must be the day for wash - I did my sheets as well and was quite happy that the threatening rain squalls went to the south of us. Making a dinner of chicken breast simmered with red wine, shiitake mushrooms, onions, garlic, and white yams. It should be ready soon. In the meantime, I am enjoying a cocktail (OJ and gin) on the veranda where Dennis and I are enjoying the last of the afternoon light. It is a holiday weekend here - yesterday was Independence Day here in Belize.

No mushrooms here; far too dry.

There's nothing quite like putting washing out on the line to blow in the breeze - has that nice fresh smell to it.

I'm so glad you are feeling more positive about your break away. Perhaps you need to make the next one a day or so longer, so the travelling doesn't constitute as large a proportion of the whole thing? I agree with you about getting clothes on the line - there's nothing quite like the smell of air-dried towels and sheets. Not to mention that wind and sun come free. Because of space constraints, we have a washer-dryer combined machine, a Bosch, and it takes forever for the drier to do its condenser drier thing. Hours and hours and hours! We use it about once a year, and defer a load of wash if we can rather than use it.

I am sure you are right Virginia aboutmaking the break a day or two longer, but neither of us could spare another day because of commitments. Luckily I wasn't doing any of the driving and on our one whole day there friends did all the driving.

The weather had turned very chilly indeed here all of a sudden so the heating is on.
Thanks for all your comments.
