Tuesday

There is a strange phenomenon in the sky - it is called 'the sun' and round here we had almost forgotten what it looked like after an Easter week-end of rain and snow and a bitter wind.

This morning, after a misty start, when snow was still lurking around, especially on the higher ground I can see from my window, suddenly the sun burst through, the temperature shot up and Spring emerged in a short burst before there was another sharp shower.   Now the sun is out again and it is (dare I say it) warm.   There is a mass of scillas out on my rockery and they are cheering me up no end.

Just friend C and I for coffee this morning but a nice chat over a cheese scone and a cafetiere of Italian coffee.   And the world looked better for it. (and with things as they are at present around the world, anything which does this is an asset).

Tess and I had a warm, sunny walk around the estate to deliver a letter and now we are home again and time for a mid afternoon cuppa.   Another one of Michael Portillo's Train Journeys around India this evening - something to really look forward to.   Are you watching it?

Sunshine is the tonic for me. I can get through anything if the sun is out. Spring is in full swing here yet we are to have a freeze tonight. I'll be covering my vegetables and hopefully for the last time.

We had a fairly decent easter week end weather wise, yesterday made up for it and it poured all day, it is getting warmer and before long we will be into spring properly with lots of sunshine days

This morning the sun came out here so I took my coffee outside and stood on the front sidewalk. It was just the spot that the sun was at the warmest. People drove by smiling and waving, probably thought I was a bit goofy but it felt so good, I really didn’t care what they thought. So very ready for summer.

We've had a lovely day here in the west country after terrible Easter weather, which has cheered me up no end. I can't say I'm a fan of Michael Portillo, but loved the Indian Railway series, narrated by Bernard Hill.

Not too much sun here but at least it's a good deal warmer today and I've tidied up my shed, which has needed doing all winter! Always worth watching Portillo to see what absurdly bright jacket he's going to wear this week.

A sunny walk sounds wonderful! Still cold and cloudy here. Enjoy the program tonight - it sounds interesting.

We never seem to be in short supply of sun 'round these parts. Friends from England are visiting. They are pleased to be wearing suncream. :D

I have become a real fan of Michael Portillo and have enjoyed several of his series of railway journeys. It is a treat to have a whole hour with him as opposed to just half an hour in former series. It was good to see the sun here also, but tomorrow is supposed to be wet again. Oh well, we are used to that.

Things are upside down at present we have had beautiful weather this Easter Weekend - more like spring than autumn

Hello, first time to comment here. We love the Michael Portillo railway series in this household! He's such a character. For some reason they and other British railway shows are regularly repeated here in Australia, and we do watch them all. Not sure if we've seen his India one as all these programmes do tend to blur into one another, if it's new then it won't have screened here yet, but his sunny optimism and bright colours should make for a good show - although I suspect his fashionable pops of colour won't be so obvious against such a vibrant backdrop!...

Here in the Sierra Nevada Mtns of Calif. we too are experiencing this odd warm form up in the sky. Everyone just steps outside, and stand in the nearest patch of warmth. Ahhh, Spring is almost upon us.
I laughed at your watching a program with one Michael Portillo--that's our family doctor's name and also my mother in laws maiden name--Man, the world of Portillo's needs to be looked into !!
Thank you for a great blog !

Watched Portillo last night. Great as ever. Always makes me smile. Lovely selection of colourful trousers last night too. Looks like another grey day here.

Portillo in India is most enjoyable. I just don't like his self conscious way of walking !
