Cold.

The weather is set to turn cold as storms sweep in.
Scotland has been hit today with storms and winds of ninety miles an hour and the cold is promised to reach here tomorrow.   The one glimmer of hope is that it is supposed to be worse in the West of the Country than it is in the East and that is unusual at this time of the year.

I am well-stocked up with food in my store cupboard and freezer - really there for Christmas.   But needs must and if necessary I shall stay indoors and raid supplies.      I do not care for driving on icy roads.

Today one of the Alzheimer's groups that we play ukulele songs with have held their Christmas lunch in nearby Richmond and friend W and I went along.  It was delightful and delicious.   We both had salmon with nicely cooked vegetables (we figured we would have our fill of turkey before Christmas was over) and then I had home made cheese cake and W had Christmas trifle.  Then we went back to W's for coffee.   In the meantime Tess went for her PetPals walk with her friend Jack, the Schnauzer.   By the time I returned she was fast asleep on her bed by the radiator.

I see there is trouble in Jerusalem tonight - hardly surprising and surely anticipated by Donald Trump.   It is so sad as for quite a time all has been fairly quiet in that area and I began to think that perhaps folk were learning to live together.   But obviously it was not to be.

Also today there is joy in our area up here in the North East as the young men who have been wrongly imprisoned in India for the past two years have been freed and have returned home - what a lovely Christmas present for their families.

Stay warm and cosy Pat. I'm sat under a blanket hoping my boiler gets fixed by the weekend.
Lunch sounds delicious. X

Feel free to eat the stored up provisions. The home guard will bring more. That's how the world works. Keep warm.

We have snow forecast overnight in Wiltshire but I doubt there will be much. I used to love those snowy winters in Yorkshire when we would get sent home early from school.

I am happy to hear the storm will not be as bad were you are. Staying off icy roads sounds like a good idea.

cheers, parsnip

Wonderful news about the release of those men in India. I did a large shop today and don't intend to risk icy pavements. I have someone coming at the weekend to instal electric radiators instead of the night storage heaters that were here when I moved in. Just in time by the sound of it.

Stay at home. O wish I could, why we always have an annual Christmas dinner on the coldest weekend of the year beats me. Last year it was freezing fog I had to drive 20 miles in. Not nice!!

Hope it doesn't turn too cold on you, we need to shop tomorrow, but rain is forecast for the whole day, so it'll probably be Sunday before we get it done.

Personally I have always viewed Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and am never surprised at any Arab terrorist trouble-making. American presidents have been wanting to make this declaration for over 20 years. It has taken Trump to do it. No reaction would surprise me!

Wind and rain have arrived here today, and we're expecting snow this weekend. Not so good, as O.K. has a 150 km drive to come to my place, and of course back home on Sunday night.
Yesterday after work, I was ironing and as usual, put BBC Radio York on. They were talking about the men who have just come home from India. I thought they said they'd been there in prison for four years, not two? Anyway, it was unjust and I am very happy for them and their loved ones.
Nice to see you're back to your "salmon dieat" :-)

Going for a walk in the cold then falling asleep beside the radiator and ignoring the troubles of the wider world - sounds idyllic to me.

A lot of panic in the media over the fact that we're actually getting a proper winter, conditions that a few years ago would of barely raised an eyebrow. Unfortunately, the long range weather forecast for here in the South East, while being much colder, still looks predominantly dry.

No snow here in Somerset and I must admit I miss the Yorkshire winters of my youth. My Grandchildren are desperate to see the white stuff! Keep warm x

Yes, much better to raid the Christmas supplies than to risk icy roads!
We may get snow on Saturday - the day when we are giving our annual winter party - but since most people live within walking distance it will be ok and I have got the food in already.
Actually, it might be fun to look for a few new Christmas decorations. I remember what fun I had in Morocco making homemade ones when we had none. Glue and glitter rule!
Do not start me on trump. I think he gets up every morning looking to insult a new group of people and cause as much unhappiness as he possibly can.
He spreads misery wherever he goes.
Anyway, I posted your Christmas card yesterday!

They are saying it will be a cold and snowy winter this year and I am not looking forward to that. Like you, I will stay inside and hibernate.
