Jack Frost

There are some beautiful things about a cold and frosty morning - and this is one of them.   My friend, W, took this photograph of one pane of glass in her conservatory roof this morning - isn't it beautiful?

It was slippery underfoot so I took Tess for just a short walk and I chose a route where it was just possible for me to walk on the grass all the way.  (it is amazing how quickly when one lives in a town that wees and poos become an obsession ((to me I mean, not Tess - who couldn't care less as long as she is out of doors).   Forty wees and one poo later we were back home.  (sorry about that).

Morning coffee for us all as usual and then later home again for me to have a Roman blind fitted in the computer room - looks very jolly.   Just a couple of pairs of curtains to go and then I am home and dry.   Keep warm.

I remember patterns like that on my bedroom window when I was a child.

How beautiful! The original frosted glass! I remember it on my bedroom window too.
Do post photos of your kitchen ( as per comment to JG).

I love those frosty patterns on the window panes, though I'm glad not to have them inside the house these days.

May yours be a winter of comfort, friends, and beauty like this sweet shot.

Brrrr Thank goodness for central heating! You seem to be settling in well, we're still unpacking 6months on!

I did wonder for a second where you were going for a poo and could not in that split second visualise you in such a posture :-) and so I was much happier when I discovered it was Tess that you were talking about!

Your friend must have a cold conservatory, I haven't seen frost like that on a window since I was a child - then it used to be on the inside of the bedroom window in the morning - no wonder we slept in thick clothes!

I think, among the Wee's and a Poo there is also the time consuming sniffing of a blade of grass.

Other dogs may do this, but I've only experience of a Border Terrier.

Sniff all the way up a long blade of grass, sniff back down, satisfied walk on... No, back again to the blade of grass to sniff up and down the other side. Walk on again, only to return to wee on the blade of grass! Ours was a male, not sure if Tess does the same :)

Beautiful ice paintings by Jack Frost! I too remember waking up with those patterns on the bedroom window.

I remember those windows when I was young until we had central heating when I was 16.
Dogs are amazing, my daughters dog does just one wee per walk, but my friend's dog saves a little for every tree and lamp post!!
Glad you are settling in.

Lovely !
We get very little frost so I enjoyed seeing the photo.
Today another warm day but only 83. It should be about 70.

It sounds like you are settling in nicely.

cheers, parsnipo

I remember 'huffing' on the bedroom window as a child to be able to see out of it on very frosty mornings.
If you have a dog, life seems to revolve around their wees and poos. I have solved that problem by sponsoring a dog from the Dogs Trust. I miss having pets but they are not encouraged in this block of flats so sponsoring is the next best thing, but I am allowed canine visitors.
Turn up the heating and keep warm and dry.

Forty wees? Really? You can tell I'm not a dog owner!

We've had some very minor frost on the car windscreen, but nothing a bucket of water didn't deal with.

Keep warm, can't get over 40 pees, Lucy (spaniel) always waits till she gets home to pee on the lawn, and leave a brown patch for Paul to grumble over..

Like Derek says, I have not seen such frost on a window pane in a very long time!
We've had unseasonably mild weather here this week, with temperatures of around 15 Celsius during the (sunny) day. It is supposed to drop to below zero tonight, though, and then a maximum of 4 Celsius tomorrow.

It is very pretty indeed. I quite like the frost but it makes early morning walks quite treacherous, particularly with a dog in a rush. Have a lovely weekend.

I am not sure if it is wonderful or scary that you can feel close to someone that lives far away and that you have never met. I cannot believe your age-you are so alive and active and write the dearest posts. I think I will see our internet friendship as a blessing. Stay well in this cold weather.

You can buy slip-on cleats that make it must safer to walk when the ground is slippery. Try looking for some. Thing about pees and poos in town is that one really does need to pick up the poo (I never went out without a plastic bags from the store in my pocket).
