Two days out

There was no time to put a post on yesterday as I spent all day at our local hospital.   I have had a couple of T I A's and so was given a complete health check yesterday and am now wearing a twenty four hour heart monitor.   I feel fine and expect there is nothing to worry about but at this time of stress it is something I could have done without.   As usual very dear friends are rallying round.   So that was my day out yesterday.

Today's day out is much more pleasureable - yes, as many of you will have no doubt guessed by now - it is Kirby Lonsdale.   Over the Pennines go friend W and I on the most glorious Autumn morning (clear blue sky, bright sunshine now at 8.30am) to meet friends P and D in Avanti, our favourite Italian Restaurant in Kirby for a leisurely lunch.   We have, as usual, both decided what we are going to eat (we more or less know the menu off by heart by now) but may very well change our minds when we get there.

As my son and I were saying last evening - this has not been a brilliant year for us.   I suppose all families have years like this.   My beloved farmer died in March, my daughter in law, who is a semi invalid anyway, has had to have a new hip and is still recovering, my great nephew has some unidentified illness which has put him in hospital for months, many of them in Intensive Care - and he is still not in the clear yet by a long way.   In addition two more friends have died.   I suppose we all have years like this, when crises bunch together, but it doesn't really hit home until it happens to you.

The other outcome of the blip in my health (I feel fine by the way) is that for the time being I cannot drive.   As I live down a long lane a mile from town this is a nuisance.   Friend W ferries me everywhere (for which I can never thank her enough) but events like the hairdresser each week present a problem.   I shall go back to on line grocery shopping this week and this will solve the problem of food so at least I needn't worry about that.   I have been trying to keep my food shopping down to the minimum because we eat out a lot (!!) and I don't want to be carting food when I move houses.

Speaking of the move - it does look as though it is on the horizon and may well take place before the end of October.

I'm so sorry to read that you've been unwell. House moving is one of the most stressful and not something I ever want to do again. Take it slow and easy and it will all come right in the end. Big hugs.x

Hope lunch was delicious.

Good news about the move. Snap on the heart monitor, had mine on the beginning of this week. Also, bought a blood pressure monitor, so I could gather my own evidence. Don't brood for heaven's sake, go out enjoy your meals and the countryside and soon you will be having to adapt to a new way of life. Also you have all those wonderful friends of yours. All the best xxx

They say that moving house is the most stressful thing you can do, so I hope that you can treat it more like an exciting adventure!

Well id today's trip out on a beautiful day doesn't relieve your stress, nothing will. Great news about the imminent move as well, what a shame most of us don't live near enough to help you move.

You'll soon be able to have less stress then. Take deep breaths and carry on :)

You are under a lot of stress at the moment but hopefully your move will happen soon and you can start to unwind. If you are unable to drive it will be better for you living in town.

I am keeping my fingers crossed you will be in your new home before the end of October. It has been such a long drawn out process, Weaver Pat.

Your hairdresser doesn't do home visits by any chance?

I do hope the move will be very soon for you Pat. It has dragged on a long time and you don't need the stress. Enjoy lunch - it is indeed a beautiful day, and why not see if your hairdresser will do an occasional home visit. Most would be happy to oblige if you are a regular client. X

So sorry to hear of your health blip, but it is hardly surprising with all the stress this year has brought you. Glad you feel OK and have the support of dear friends. They will be pleased to be able to help you and hopefully you will be moving in a few more weeks. Hold on a bit longer.x

Here's hoping you don't have to wear the heart monitor very long and that the results are fine and that should put you back in the driver's seat ..no? yes? it has been a terrible year for you Pat and i wish a brighter one this next year... Life does seem to hit us that way doesn't it... like the world is saying 'Lets hit her while she's down... ' Hugs! deb

Glad you're ok, I had to wear one of those 24 hour heart monitors and I was still working, what a nuisance .

So glad you're doing okay despite all the stressful events lately!
I had to wear a heart monitor for two days last year. What a nuisance. But, it does give the doc some much needed information. Here's hoping for good news!
So sorry you've had such a tough year. I can truly empathize with your struggles. May we all find a bit of peace in the very near future!

Hopefully, your new home is close to everything you need in your daily life. That's very important for someone living on his own. It allows him/her to be independent, and independance is priceless. ( Friends who have to drive you to places will soon become ex-friends; that's how it is in life).

I am so sorry you have had such a difficult year. I empathize with you as this has been by far the hardest year I have had as well. I am learning to find peace and contentment as I grieve so many losses.
I hope you are able to settle soon in you new home and find it to be in a walkable location. Sending support and hugs virtually!

Sometimes Life seems to jumble a whole bunch of negative stuff at one time. But this too shall pass. Take care of yourself, do what you can, and call it a day.

I've concluded the best solution is treating bad days as a nuisance to be gone the next day. It works well enough.

Sorry about that huge gap = don't know what caused it.
Thanks for all those positive comments - they do help to make life bearable.

Life is sometimes like that everything seems to happen at once.
So happy your move will be soon.

Yes, you have had a very sad year. Sending lots of love.
It will be better once you are allowed to drive again and when you move.
Think of you often.
