Saturday

It is still very windy here and although there has not been a heavy shower here today it has been unsettled in many parts of the UK.   Because of this our concert out in the open at a Garden Fete was cancelled - it does not do musical instruments any good at all to get wet.

Then, at the last minute. we were rescheduled and got a gig in our little town where our Auctioneers, Tennants, were hosting a Summer Fair in their Garden Rooms.   So it was all stations go again and the Ukulele Band gave their concert.

I think it was a success.   As yet I am a real novice player but I enjoyed it and it is the kind of instrument you can play and get carried along in an informal situation like that.

Afterwards a group of us went and got our Complementary tea or coffee (and in some cases a piece of cake!) and had a nice chat in the cafe.   And while I was there I met a friend I have not seen since the farmer died and we had a nice chat.

This evening there is a distinct chill in the air and although the sun is shining there is still a stiff wind blowing.

Tomorrow is another day - I always make myself think that when I begin to feel low in the evening.

My thought exactly, Pat, of an evening. The problem is knowing which day it is and will be.

Not windy here at my partner's in Surrey today Pat but we've had heavy showers and a storm and the temp. is due to drop to 9 degrees tonight - autumn is definitely upon us.

Good thing about ukuleles is that I think you could strum and sing along, playing a totally different tune and no one would be the wiser. I have mine out, got a new battery for the tuner and need to find the music on youtube. Just need a kick in the behind.

Tea, coffee and a piece of cake - don't let the wealth and fame go to your head! This year Tennants' Garden Room next year the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

Exciting to play for a live audience. Hope it doesn't turn too cold on you.

I was just thinking how much cooler it is this evening. It's definitely the back end of Summer now. X

I would love to hear you play. I hope you're feeling more up than down today.

Coffee and cake...yummy.

I'm betting the audience loved your ukelele show, and payment in tea and cake sounds fun.

The concert with tea/coffee and cake afterwards Sounds nice, I'm glad you did get to Play after all in spite of the first concert having been cancelled.
Our heatwave seems to have broken; we had a hot and humid spell with violent thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, even hail, causing some damage. But today is just beautiful, sunny and a lot cooler - just right for a nice Long walk.
Yes, tomorrow is another day. Good way of seeing it when you feel a bit low (which you are entitled to!).

Pleased that your concert could take place after all and that you enjoyed yourself. We had quite a feisty little thunderstorm yesterday with torrential rain just as I decided I had enough energy to mow the back lawn having already done the front one. Hoping it will dry out enough this morning before we get yet more rain. Here's hoping today will not be a trying one for you.

Pat, how about these lyrics from a Bob Dylan song "Tomorrow is a long Time"

If today was not an crooked highway,
If tonight I could finally stand tall,
If tomorrow wasn't such a long time,
Then lonesome would mean nothing to you at all.
Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',
Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',
Only if she was lyin' by me,
Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

I can't see my reflection in the waters,
I can't speak the sounds that show no pain,
I can't hear the echo of my footsteps,
Or can't remember the sound of my own name.
Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',
Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',
Only if she was lyin' by me,
Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

There's beauty in the silver, singin' river,
There's beauty in the sunrise in the sky,
But none of these and nothing else can touch the beauty
That I remember in my true love's eyes.
Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',
Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',
Only if she was lyin' by me,
Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

Yes I must admit that a gig at my age sounds quite adventurous Rachel!
Thanks everyone.
