Out to Lunch

No surprise there then.   Coffee with friends early in our usual coffee shop and then friend W and I went to one of our favourite venues for lunch.   I needed a present and a card for a forthcoming birthday and there is a charming shop there which is good for such occasions.

We had our favourite lunch - Seafood Platter - a plate holding smoked salmon, smoke mackerel, prawns in marie rose sauce, mayo, green salad leaves, a warm brown roll and butter.  This,  followed by a cup of good coffee, is a most satisfying meal.

There was thick fog when I drew back the curtains at 6.45am and since then it has been cloudy but as I write this at 4pm the sun is breaking through.  As usual it is ukulele practice tonight.   I spent a couple of hours filing my music in alphabetical order last evening so at least I should be able to find whatever it is we are expected to play tonight.

My right knee is much improved today so I am pretty sure that yesterday's intense pain was due to my twisting it rather than arthritis - that's a relief.

Drooling over your seafood platter!

Salmon farms probably only started up in order to satisfy your constant habit of eating the stuff. Got up here in Sheppey this morning to a cloudless, sunny and already warm morning and it became very warm as the day progressed.

Being able to eat out on a whim is probably the thing I miss most (after a decent internet connection) about living in such an isolated location as we do. I love to cook, but I do get tired of "having" to cook day after day. However, one perk we have is the occasional gift of fresh fish like the 8 small snappers dropped off by a local fisherman this morning. Your seafood platter sounds delightful.

My oh my! What an amazing surprise! You chose salmon for lunch. They say that variety is the spice of life... whoever "they" might be. I think Derek is right about salmon farms.

Sounds like very good day. Are we to get a video with sound of one of your ukelele sessions?!

Eating out again, Weaver? I have to ration myself to once a week. Last week it was Red Lobster where I had a Caesar salad and stuffed mushrooms (which I shared with a friend) for the princely price of $10. Definitely not as tasty as your seafood platter. This week it is Nova Restaurant for a pizza lunch on Thursday so that won't break the bank either!

You could of course change your blog name from The Weaver of Grass to The Eater of Salmon.
