Lovely views

This morning early Tess and I    walked across the newly silaged field which was wet with dew.   Already the sun was warm, the grass was short enough to walk easily and the rabbits were about, much to Tess's delight.

Each time I walk amongst the fields I am conscious that my time here is coming to an end, that I shall be living in an altogether different environment - but I am also sensible enough to realise that it will be much better for me to be in a bungalow and nearer to services.   If my walking
gets much worse I can always get myself a buggy to get from a to b.

As we walked suddenly a hare got up at our feet and ran.   Tess saw it but didn't attempt a chase - I expect she knew that, given the hare's speed, it was a totally pointless task.   As you know, the hare is my favourite animal, so I was thrilled to bits.

Ukulele practice this afternoon so all my jobs were done early this morning - now I  can sort out my music ready for this afternoon.

Thank you for sharing the lovely view! It looks like a wonderful place to take a walk.
I truly admire your attitude when it comes to facing all the unexpected challenges life throws at us.

Wow, green grass! and a lovely piece of countryside. Like you say, the bungalow will have other compensation, is the person that you are swapping with, buying the farm as well.

I reckon the farmer sent the hare to see you. x

That's a lovely field for a walk. We used to see Hares regularly hereabouts but not seen any for years, until we came across one on the bottom lane a few weeks back (it leapt through a nearby gateway, fortunately).

I am sure once you are settled in your bungalow, near shops etc again, it will seem the right move. It just feels like a big step at the moment.

What a lovely walk you must have. As beautiful as it may be, I am sure that you will take to the convenience of living in town very well.

What a lovely view -- it is hard having to accept the challenges of aging. I do enjoy your blog and reading about your life. I'm sure that even though its a sensible choice it will be hard adjusting to a different life. All good wishes. Jean Winnipeg Canada

I'm certain you will find your new home very convenient and safer at this time dear Pat, and as you still drive you and Tess will be out there often in the countryside stirring up the hares and other lovely animal friends.
The field looks so lovely in the sunshine.

Hope your son is doing well and will soon be up on his feet again.

I have always been a person who liked to put down roots....... I moved around alot as a child... and that left me with a need to stay in one place.... but that has not been my lot in life..... Through the years the moves have often upset me and i found the harder i tried to cling to a place the more apt i was to have to leave it..... I think eventually i just came to terms with that, that life of living in one place for 20,30 or more years was just not meant for me and i can either fight against it and be miserable each and every time or i can find a way to embrace my life such as it is... enjoy the journey.... I will not have the pleasure of planting a tree and watching it grow but just think of all the wonderful places i have seen and will see... the experiences i have had and will have..... so...remember that lovely place you shared with the Farmer Pat... but don't cling to it so hard that you make yourself miserable and forget to enjoy your new life... i like to think of it as a new adventure!!! Hugs! deb

PS..........Letter done i just have to go to the Post Office.... :)

It is a beautiful spot and I know you're going to miss it, but it won't ever leave you, it's a part of you now. You were lucky enough to have a happy life there and now you get to move those memories with you to the next chapter of your life.

I'm glad you had the added bonus of seeing a hare on your walk (and good for Tess not taking off after it and dragging you with her!) -Jenn

How lovely to be able to walk the fields.

If it was anything like our weather in your parts of Yorkshire today, it was the warmest day I have experienced here in a while - blue, cloudless sky and plenty of sun still out there even as I am typing this at almost 9:00 pm.
Glad to know Tess left the hare well alone! My favourite animal is the fox, but I like hares, too, and sometimes spot them on the fields where I go running (no rabbits there).
Your decision to move is sensible, and I am sure you will appreciate the advantages of the bungalow and closeness to services, too.

Rachel you have cheered me up no end - never thought of the farmer having a hand in sending that hare my way.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
