Weather

Last week the weather was lovely, the sun shone and it was warm.   This week it is very wet, very windy and cold.  The vagiaries of our English weather.

I put my coat on after tea  in order to take Tess round the hay field for a walk, stepped out of the back door and the gale almost blew me over.   If I fall onto the floor I find it more or less impossible to get up so I dare not go on.

I rang my son and he has just driven the mile round to the farm and taken her for her evening walk - not a brilliantly long one (he is not a dog lover at all) but at least a utility walk and the rabbits have had a bit of peace as she had to stay on the lead with him and was therefore unable to chase them.

Each morning for the past week when I have drawn back the curtains, there has been a baby rabbit on the lawn.   Tess would dearly love to catch it.   I dread it happening because were she to injure it I would be totally unable to kill it.

I am going now to watch Yorkshire Vet on television - one of my favourite programmes.   I would guess that Thelma (North Stoke) watches it too - it is filmed in her area.

I thought our weather changing was the only thing you can count on, but I think Yorkshire has us beat. Glad son was there to help. Will there be a place to let Tess run at your new home?

I put the heating on at 3pm when I got home, cold and wet, and trees bent double in the wind. 4 cats indoors watching the rain from the window.

I was most interested when I saw you mention watching "the Yorkshire Vet" and immediately thought of the James Herriott books that became shows years ago. I love the books! We watched those almost religiously for a while and my daughters learned a great deal from them. How interesting that they've now made a current reality show. Now I'm wondering how I can watch it here in the US.
I hope you enjoy your show!

I've just been watching that programme. The poor little dog seemed so pleased to see his owner. Very windy in south west France today too.

We are having unseasonably cold, wet weather. Not pleasant.

Its bloody awful. No wind now but mist and endless rain. Reminds me of Bleak House. The drip drip drip. Chill. Mentally I mean not physically!x

It's the same down here. Last week I had lunch in the garden, yesterday I was so cold I wore a fleece indoors. Today has been slightly better - I took my fleece off a couple of hours ago! The wind has blown down some of my lovely foxgloves.

I live on the coast in Essex and I have the sea less than a mile and half from the front and back of my house. The wind and rain has lashed from both directions today, very heavy at times. I've been busy filling lots of buckets and paddling pool with water for when the sun returns!

I am not a dog lover either. I sympathise with your son. Couldn't you get a dog treadmill?

I am watching The Yorkshire Vet also but on Acorn.
I thought this was around your area also ?
Our weather has been so hot, only 104 today, the monsoons are coming or hopefully coming.

Just catching up on your postings, Pat, - I seem to get behind so easily, but have been busy plying wool and winding warps and trying to make the days productive and satisfying. I wish we could play the ukulele together, - have only three playing now, (lost one of our dear ones) but one of them has been playing in a regular 40 odd ukulele choir elsewhere, so she is a great confidence builder and we are having a good time at our Thursday afternoon practices.

Do you play Ain't She Sweet, and Five Foot two, - my repetoire is quite limited but the ones with just two or three different chords keep me going!!

When I woke up yesterday morning I thought crikey, that was a good night's sleep, I went to sleep in June and woke up in October, so bad were the gales and rain.It was an awful day, flowers that looked beautiful on Monday are now battered and broken.
The Yorkshire Vet is a terrific programme, such wonderful vets and make ours look so bad, the only thing they never mention on the programme is how expensive their lovely care and attention is.

I've not yet come across the Yorkshire Vet on telly, but I hope it will still be running when my sister and I will be in Yorkshire for our annual holiday in 4 1/2 weeks' time! This year, we plan to attend The Great Yorkshire Show for one day, my sister-in-law has already bought tickets for the four of us (she and her daughter are going with us).
Wise of you not to risk being blown by the gale! It has been very windy and unsettled here, too; rain one minute, sunshine the next, and a beautiful rainbow yesterday evening when I came home from work.

Missed last night one, though I love animals the news that they might have to die because of inoperable problems always brings me to tears. Funnily enough Paul had just gone to the pub next door for a pint yesterday evening, then came rushing back. Come and see he said, and Harriet had just got herself a tiny puppy pomeranium (sure that is the wrong spelling). Gorgeous if you like tiny dogs but a bit precarious amongst all the legs of those sturdy farmers!

The Yorkshire Vet is my friend's son in law. She's extremely proud of him :D
I hope the weather is good enough for you to get out today :D

In answer to the Librarian, I believe that last night's one was the last of the series for the moment.

I love the Yorkshire Vet. Last nights episode was quite moving. Thank God the nurse did a bit of detective work and found the stray dogs owner. After 6 years it was amazing the dog instantly remembered his mistress.

I can't imagine having such frigid, wet weather in June. Here in Northern California it is typically dry and hot from late May through late October, (around 100 degree F). Last weekend my youngest child graduated from high school and we had a large garden party to celebrate with friends and family. We were so pleased that it was in the low 80's with a slight breeze... a more comfortable day we couldn't have asked for!
I will look for your vet show on Acorn.

Devon, a couple of days in the low 80's is called a heatwave here in the UK.

Sounds like a day to stay in and cozy up to the television. Hope tomorrow's weather is better.

It's foul this week and really no fun to cycle in at all!
