Moving on.

Well, are we all moving forward - or what?   Over here in the UK there is only so much time we can give to worrying about the US Election results however much we are appalled by them.   After all, we can do absolutely nothing about any of it.

So I for one intend to move on, get on with my life and try very hard to ignore anything that is going on over the pond.

My great-grandchild is due in less than a month.   My grand-daughter has shared her pregnancy with me by keeping me updated and has now informed me that there has been a definite shift in position of the baby and that she is now finding herself walking in an all together different way.   This last three weeks or so is going to be hard for me too - I am impatient for the day.   Also, I am knitting like mad (at least that is keeping me involved).

My visitors went early this morning.   It has been a lovely relaxed week-end with them.   P is like my second son - I have known  him and welcomed him into my house and family since he was in his early twenties and he is now sixty six - so no pressure.   D his partner of ten years or more, is a lovely chap, also retired, good company and together they are so happy.   What more could anyone wish for?

All the scrap steel has left the farm.   The farmer hired two very large skips - the second one was collected late this afternoon - and I must say that everywhere looks a lot tidier.

The last cattle on the farm are going home on Wednesday.   There is still plenty of grass for them to eat but at this time of the year it tends to lack goodness, and as these beasts are all destined for the table eventually, it is very important that they do not begin to lose their body weight.   So they will be going inside for a bit of fattening up.

See you again tomorrow now that I am 'back to normal'!

I agree completely with your first two paragraphs, why people in this country spend time blogging and stressing about American politics is beyond me, if they ever get to the stage where they are affecting your idyllic way of life in deepest Yorkshire, that'll be the time to worry. Till then, farm life, coffee mornings, knitting and new babies is all you need to think about.

Normal sounds very appealing. xo

I agree with your friends here above, it's good to have some knitting to do when the world turns cold. You are all lucky to have a new life making the gloom bright. But I still worry about that mr Trump, however little he effects my everyday life. The ongoings in the US always stirred things up around here. I think Europe is worried about cutoff businness and trade contacts and contracts. I think also that Trump intends to get involved less in the security of Europe. But I am concerned mostly about the fact that someone with, apparently, that much prejudice, lies and doubtful thinking, can actually become one of the most powerful men in the world. My sister and her family lives there, as do millions of others, and we can't just forget about it.
Maybe he won't stir up as much as we fear, perhaps he will stir up more, time will tell. There are as now, worse leaders in full action, God bless us all!!!
And God bless that grandchild of yours, may she have a quick and safe delivery!!!! Awaiting full report!!!

I can't work up stress for our own politics, let alone someone else's. Lovely to have a new baby to join the family - I hope your grand-daughter has a good delivery. So glad your friends reached you in spite of the possibility of bad weather, and had a good travelling conditions to home. It's good to have an outdoor tidy-up - oh for a skip! Enjoy being 'normal' again.

Well if those beasts are intended for the table, I hope we don't get one at our house as our table would collapse under the creature's weight.

Glad you had such a nice weekend with your friends, and that their driving wasn't too bad because of the weather.
The new US president is the main topic on our news here in Germany, too. As you said, we can't do anything about it, but what will be decided on as the US' future politics towards Europe (and the rest of the world, of course) will have repercussions in my country as well. Right now, European heads of state are trying to agree on a common approach. I can't decide with them, but I want to keep informed at least of the most important things.
All the best to your granddaughter - I hope mother and baby will go through delivery as smoothly as possible.

Happy for you that you had a pleasant weekend, and are looking forward to a new grandchild. Knitting is very relaxing, and I'm sure Trump will eventually go away, though of course he has Scottish connections, stupid man, not because of his Scottish ancestry though.... That Yorkshire Pudding has a wry wit;)

I was interested in what Fairtrader said.

Trump will affect us all. There is debate in Austria about the EU's latest experiment: the creation of an EU army. Austria, like Switzerland, is a neutral state.

Britain luckily will not have to join the EU Army as she will be out of EU by the time the neo-German-Franco-Polish Army becomes reality. And that is good.

The proposed EU Army will be the clenched fist of an insatiable EU Octopus. And will be perceived by Russia to be dangerous.

Worrying doesn't help improve the situation so I try not to. A new baby is a much more positive, life affirming thing to think on.

Personally, I am haunted by the spectre of 20th century history. But there is little we can do other than vote and that seems to be a duty that far too many have passed by ... In the meantime new life comes forth and with that is always hope and joy. God bless you and your family, Weaver...

Thanks to everyone for the comments and for - on the whole - a positive attitude.

I know the feeling - we here in the US - the majority of us - feel betrayed and undermined - our system is supposed to work better than this - but with Trump and his cohorts in other countries and our own FBI rigging the election we stand no chance. It is the saddest day for America and things are just awful here with death threats coming fast and furious from Trump supporters who feel they have the run of the country and can bully and hate and spread malice where ever they go. We are a saddened people but we will not be defeated by a bullying, crybaby brat - we will overcome.

But better things will come - people are rallying to defend those under attack. And soon the new baby in your family - life has a way of renewing itself.
