Frustration

I have had a lovely day today, visiting an old friend M and having a nice afternoon's chat.   Tess came with me and we sat in a warm sitting room talking about this and that - and so the afternoon passed.

Then I came home.   The farmer took Tess for her afternoon walk, taking with him some fencing slats because - again - the sheep have managed to find a way out on to the back lane. (this lane is not a road; it is at the opposite end of the farm and is just a muddy track.
Job done he came home and we had our tea.

So far so good.  Then my frustration began.   Why is nothing simple these days - or is it just my lack of computer skills?   Our European health cards needed renewing and I renewed mine about a week ago, but we couldn't find the farmer's NHS number.   This morning I went into the medical practice and the very nice receptionist gave me it from her computer in two minutes flat.
But when I tried to apply for the farmer's card the site kept refusing, saying that the e mail address (mine) was already used.
After many frustrating attempts I finally realised that I had to reset my password, start again and add him to my application.

I will now be perfectly honest and say that I have little patience as I get older and I really am not all that good at reading instructions thoroughly.   When I finally reset the password and started again it all went like clockwork (I hope), but I did spend a very frustrating half hour and I do now feel rather wrung out!

Just a word about my son and his eye.   He had to have the whole thing re-done yesterday - and also the expected cataract (a side effect of the operation) had already formed, so he had that removed at the same time.   He has to take a week off school and take it really quietly, which I hope he is doing.   And we are just hoping that it all works well this time.   He has great confidence in his surgeon, who he says is a wonderful man - so let's hope all goes well this time.

Sight is so precious, so I'm sure your son will be a patient patient. What a good thing he took action when he felt all was not as it should be. Wishing him a good recovery.
I am the same with the modern ways of doing things - it all seems to be so much more complicated than it once was.

I hope the eye is better after today's repair.

The post office used to be easy for these renewal kind of things. I have just had three months of being treated like a criminal by the TV license authority for not having a tv license for my empty house although telling them it is empty, I thought, successfully on line. It appears that I haven't successfully told them and they now want to visit it.

I really hope your son's eye recovers properly this time, sight is very precious.
Computers and passwords can be more than frustrating - I have just been upgraded to Windows 10 and have had to reset password on some sites I use. I ended up saying I had forgotten my password (I hadn't) a couple of times, then going through the procedure to get a new one. Sometimes I hate computers, but I do love being able to see to business matters at my convenience rather than just in business hours.

Weaver, I turn from a laid back woman into a killer when my computer messes up. Just had to have all new internet installed at the farm and both our printers don't work now. I do dislike computers. Need an assistant. So sorry Son has to go through it all again. What a pain. After my weenie Sister had her cataracts were removed it was such an ordeal. She later got ulcers in both eyes and it has almost been a year and a half and I still have to put drops in her eyes 3 times a day. That, and did I say it cost $7000.? Twice what they told me.

I detest computer problems which I am currently having. I can read blogs, sometimes comment but have been unable to post anything on my blog for quite sometime.

I know the despair of a tiny misstep at the computer disrupting one's life for hours--of the day or the week. It won't get any better, which is what I am expecting for your son's eye.

Computer are wonderful... when they work.
I sincerely hope everything goes well for your son. You said he has to take time away from school. Is he a teacher, or does he attend? -Jenn

I'm bad at following directions, I read the first line or so, think I know what I'm doing and take off only to be stymied down the line.

I hope your son's recovery is swift and complete - such a worry!
I understand your frustration completely! I have been often in contact with our health authority lately and the more automated things become, the more difficult everything becomes.

I said a prayer that your son's eye will heal fully and quickly. Yes, computers and signing up for programs and setting passwords can be frustrating when they take too much time.

Weaver, I send you and yours best wishes that your son's recent corrective surgery will have all the desired results. How I do value my own vision, and wish the best for every one else's eye, too.

I know what you mean about patience. I used to move from project to projects, idea to idea, activity to activity, and so forth with great speed. Within the past sox months or so, I find myself getting better results by slowing it all down a bit, and calling for more and more patience. Since my work required lots of interactions with other folks, from all over the world, I have benefitted (and hope those clients have as well) by adding patience to every encounter.

Wow, it is really cold tonight in NYC. A glowing fireplace would be a treat. xo

I had no idea that those Health Cards ran out... I'll have to check mine. Thanks.

I thought that it was just me that had no patience with PC problems and quick to throw my toys out of the pram, clearly that's not the case, it must be an age thing.
What are European health cards, I've never heard of them.

It is a relief to know that I am not alone in losing patience with my computer and also with problems in daily life. I resolve to try and slow down a bit! Thanks for the good wishes for my son - I shall pass them on.

Computer is an Old Testament God.
No mercy when you do something wrong.
