The thief of time

Procrastination.   I think we all suffer from it to a greater or lesser extent.  Sometimes it is hard to leave a book we are reading (Landmarks by Robert Macfarlane), sometimes it is something as simple as sitting and gazing in to space (I am really good at that), but I find that the hardest thing of all is the actual standing up.

Once I am on two legs and moving forwards then I am half way there.

Last Friday on the market I bought a dozen pelargoniums to pot up, mostly in the manger under the front window.   I have had a good excuse every day for not getting round to doing it.   We were going out, it was raining, it was looking like rain, it was too windy (this has been a bad week for gales here).   But today it is fine, there is only a light breeze, I am ready to go -so this is just a short post today to say I am going out into the garden.

This afternoon is our exercise afternoon so it is early lunch and then an hour of movement, which will do me a power of good as I have missed three Wednesday afternoons.

Lunch will surprise the farmer (we rarely, if ever have a pudding as we watch our weight) - there is quiche and salad left from yesterday so that will do for the first course.   Yesterday I bought some blueberries, so I am going to make pancakes with blueberries and honey.   All being well I should earn Brownie points (if it works out well).

Photo of pelargoniums later should prove I have not procrastinated.
There you are; half an hour later and it is done.   Why has it taken me so long to get round to it?

Ah, yes...procrastination...
That's why I'm sitting here reading on the internet instead of doing something productive.
I hope you get your potting up finished. Can't wait to see photos!

Weaver i dare say i'am the Queen of Procrastination... ask anyone... lol ....Why?? Gosh i don't know if there is a reason other than..theres something else i'd rather be doing... :)I've actually gotten a little better as i get older...I'm also better about if i have a list of things to do i pick the most difficult or least enjoyable thing to do first...and get it out of the way..then all the rest will seem easy... :) Love your flowers... i have never heard of them....I need some plants that deer don't like to eat...:) Hugs! deb

Lovely! I wish I had a pound for every time I've had the thought "why did I put that off for so long?". The last two days it has been the windy weather -- but in a few minutes I'm off to do what I promised myself I would do on Monday!

I have managed to over-winter mine (I call them Geraniums) for the fifth year running. Not only am I frugal, but I'm also amazed that they keep pulling through. Miracle.

They will look lovely when they flower. What colour are they? I hope you will take a photo of them in bloom as well.

Enjoy your day!

Well that manger, or window box as we call them here, is just gorgeous and would look good without anything inside it. I always plant geraniums in my window boxes too. Just so pretty.

I have not thought of that maxim in years--procrastination is the thief of time. It seems from my parent's or grandparent's time. It seems no one thinks of productivity, getting the most of the day, these times.

You are ahead of me - I haven't even bought mine yet. It is all too easy to let time slip by. This morning I had such plans but spent half the morning being a handiman's mate for my husband, then one of our daughter's popped in for coffee - which was very nice - but I still haven't ticked anything off my 'to do' list. Oh well, there is still this afternoon.

I've just treated myself to reading this post and its predecessor, and as always when visiting here, have learned quite a bit.

I admit that whenever I see the word manger, I think of a Nativity scene. Now I will perhaps be adding pergolarium plants to that image.

The oak/ash saying is something else I will remember.

it was wise and kind of the Farmer to tend to the unfortunate baby rabbits, the young sparrow and free ranging cow. It seems to me that you all are always busy. Not much time available for procrastination, no matter what you've written.

Best wishes from NYC.

Shattered after the first exercise class for three weeks - but putting off nothing I am here to thank you all for your comments. The reason it is called a manger is because it is an old manger (feeding trough) from inside one of our calf houses.
Pelargoniums (or geraniums if you like) are sometimes white but more often shades of red through to pink. These are supposedly mixed, so we shall see.

They are pretty when in bloom geraniums. Cannot procrastinate at this moment in time but enjoy it when I have free space in my mind ;). Also you can conduct quite a lot of your mail online now, so sneaking over to see what people are writing on their blogs is an 'escape' or a break...

Love John's comment!!

Thelma - you can add to your escape or break the fact that you are having a sit down - probably quite rare at the moment.
