Exhausted

I have just returned from my weekly exercise class and I am exhausted, as always, so I know if I sit down to watch the antiques programme we always watch over our tea (boiled eggs tonight), I shall not get round to posting a blog today.   And that would never do.  I know it is doing me good to have an hour's strenuous exercise (strenuous for me that is) and our tutor really does put us through it,  I never feel like going and I always come home feeling better for it.

Then tonight there is one of our favourite programmes on the television when Michael Portillo journeys by rail down the spine of Italy.   We watch his programme every week and once we see past his coloured jackets (pink, yellow, aquamarine to name but three) we love the snippets of information, the people he meets, the countryside zipping past the train window  - what is there not to like?  And yet the Times critic (in this case I think it was Andrew Billen) absolutely slaughtered the programme last week, talking of him behaving like a peacock strutting up and down the train.   He gave the programme only two out of five stars.  As friend W and I agreed on our way home from the exercise class, sometimes these television 'critics' seem to have watched an entirely different programme from the one we watched.

I had a lovely surprise in the post today when Siri, daughter of Margaret of Thousand Flower on my side bar, sent me the most beautiful card with a hare on it (I collect hares - pictures, statuettes, cars - anything with a hare on it) and one I have not had before.   So thank you Thousand Flower - it is most appreciated.

I know what you mean about the critics. Its come to the point that if the critics don't like it (movies, books, etc..) Hubby and i can pretty much guarentee we will like it.......lol... I guess you just have to remember that the critic is just one person with his opinion. Your opinion is the one that matters. Kind of makes you wonder why we have critics. Why do we pay attention to the opinion of one little man??(woman)

Hubs and i went to a state park yesterday to walk around. One we have not been too. It was fabulous. They only had short little trails but they all interconnected and we ended up walking like 4 miles! So i'm a little tired too. :) Have a great day Weaver! Hugs! deb

Absolutely agree with you Weaver, they must watch an entirely different program. As a rule we never pay much attention to them (critics) and figure they must be having a bad day. Hope you feel rested soon.

Michael Portillo's program is one that both my husband and I equally enjoy. I missed the first one last week as I was away, but am looking forward to tonight's episode, coloured jackets and all! I think the critic is just jealous -- Portillo's got much the better job...

I like Michael Portillo's programme too and never take any notice of critics. Too often I have enjoyed something they haven't. Are they just out to be controversial or is my taste questionable?!
Glad you enjoyed your exercise class. I feel very sluggish at times but find I can work it off with housework, gardening or a walk. Sleep well.x

Sometimes if I am very excited about a movie or program I am sure not to read anything about it. I read after I have seen it.

cheers, parsnip

Love Michael Portillos programmes. One of the few I will watch again and again. Mind you that YELLOW jacket is awful!!!!

It must be universal. I never feel like going, either, and come back the better for the hour of working out.

Critics have lost the ability to see as we do!

I always like the idea of Tea...we don't do it here, but maybe we should.

I think these critics have to watch so much TV that they become very bored very easily. Critics are there to criticise; very seldom to praise.

Thanks to everyone for calling.

I do a Walk at Home exercise tape every day whether I want to or not. I know it's good for me.
I'm with you on critics, makes you wonder what program they watched. Obviously they are not the target audience.

Boiled eggs? Yum! Is there anything better?
I shall not spoil the moment by asking if there is anything worse than a Portillo.
