When we got up this morning we thought that the tail-end of Gonzalo had missed us, as it was a pleasant morning. But no, it just hadn't arrived. Later in the morning it arrived in force; there is a very strong gale blowing and one minute it is brilliant, glishy sunshine, the next minute pouring with rain. I can't stand up outside the kitchen door, so I am staying put today. Even Tess was reluctant to go out with the farmer for her lunch-time walk.
I had thought to go and visit friend M this afternoon, but have been unable to raise her on the telephone so I decided to stay at home. As I had one of my periodic bad nights, perhaps it is just as well. One thing is for sure - there is hardly a leaf to be seen on a single deciduous tree visible from my kitchen window. Left to the wind all the leaves come off and (hopefully) the wind sweeps them into heaps too. As I once read an old man said, "I don't bother sweeping up the leaves in Autumn, I leave old Borealis to do it for me" (Borealis being the North wind).

We should pay more attention to our dogs….stay in.
We have begun three days of unrelenting rain. Interesting how easily we endure three days of unrelenting sunshine.
I am just about to light the log burner , pour myself a wine and look army pumpkin
I can never understand why the Council pay good money to workmen to use a blower to clear leaves from the lane-sides. The first gust of wind will just blow them all back again. Crazy!
I hope you haven't had any damage. We just had a corner of it, a bit blowy for a while, but it's cleared and calmed and cooled down now.
One would just hope the leaves just don't end up in your yard.
cheers, parsnip
I was waiting for the wind and heavy rain which was forecast but we have had a mostly sunny day with the odd light shower. The wind has been very strong but intermittent, so it sounds as if we have got away with it.
There are still plenty of leaves on our trees and many of them have yet to change colour.
Wind that knocks you off your feet is a very STRONG wind indeed!

We are under wind warnings for tonight - and 100% chance of rain for tomorrow - so a good time to stay indoors and have a cup of tea and some freshly baked gingersnaps.
It's been raining for three days here in South Korea. Sunshine is promised from tomorrow. Good for blogging and catching up!

Not too bad down here; breezy, certainly, but not destructive. And like the old man said it's piled up the leaves in my backyard very neatly indeed.
Hi Pat, I've sent you the email again. Hopefully third time lucky.
Well our leaves are still on; dogs have the right approach.....
The wind has died down to day but the rain is still hanging arou nd. Thanks for calling.
