Please read yesterday's comments!

Never before in the history of my own blogging, have I felt more strongly that we were all sitting around over a cup of coffee and chatting amongst ourselves about an issue.

I have so enjoyed reading all your comments - there is such food for thought there from everybody - and if you haven't yet left a comment then please go back one day, read the blog and contribute to the discussion.

In the light of the fact that it is the anniversary of Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' speech then JoAnn's comments are indeed of great interest.

Yes, we do all feel quite strongly about this issue = that is evident from your replies - thank you so much for joining in.

At five p.m., Pacific Daylight Savings Time, we will be the lucky ones - we get to hear the entire "I have a Dream Speech" - the one that is usually aired is a part of that entire speech, given on a moment's notice 50 years ago when Martin Luther King, Jr. was encouraged to tell the huge Washington DC crowd part of the I Have a Dream Speech.

We will definitely be in front of our TVs tonight - what a privilege will will have.

I like the idea of sitting around chatting over a cup of tea or coffee - if we as a human race would do more one on one, there would be no wars - because we are all alike.

Thank you for this forum - it is an important aspect of our lives to learn to coexist. In the US there is a bumper sticker that shows the word "coexist" and each letter is a symbol of some faith or some group - it does urge us to be more alert to our differences and yet at the same time our sameness as humans.

When I was growing up I was taught not to make snap judgments about anyone. I was never taught prejudice. My parents taught me that we are not to judge people, only God judges people. I was never taught to see color nor judge people from where they come from or what they believe in. I have tried to be that way all my life and I am in my middle 70's. Maybe the gentleman that you saw enjoyed his jewelry. I have friends who some people look at and say I would never be friends with them because they didn't fit in a category. We tend to put people into categories. Enjoy your coffee with your friend and love to read your blogs. Good health to you.

There are always plenty of snap and pithy comments on your blog. I often feel I don't really fit. But I like to join in and I can't help being me. I enjoy being part of it though.

I found your discussion exhilarating! And I have a follow-up. This morning I went down to our local gas station to put gas in my car. As I stood there pumping the gas, a huge motorcycle roared up -- a man in front and a woman riding pillon. She as about 5'3" tall and weighed about 250 lbs. He was about 5'6" and weighed about the same. They had music on, blaring loudly. But instead of the rap music or heavy metal rock I would have expected, it was -- ABBA !
The thought of this most unlikely couple tooling down the road to the strains of "Dancing Queen" made day and I smiled all morning!
Doesn't pay to leap to conclusions! :)
