What a view!

Today we have been to tea to friends up the Dale.   Their new house is 'upside down' in that the bedrooms are on the ground floor and the sitting room and kitchen are on the first floor.    And the reason for this is a very good one.

The views across Wensleydale and into Bishopdale are spectacular.
And what a neighbour.   Their neighbour is shown in the two photographs here - they live next door to Bolton Castle - a medieval castle which is being featured in tonight's Country File programme on BBC1,    I took one of these photographs from their front drive.

I am now feeling rather full of newly baked scones, jam and clotted cream, which have done nothing for my diet - but they were jolly good for all that.  A bleak day tomorrow for food should make up for it.

Enjoy your Sunday evening.

How amazing to have that as a neighbour ...and I love the fact that they have turned their house upside down ....so many views are wasted by only being seen from a bedroom.

What an astounding view!
Yup, how often does one spend time looking out of a bedroom window as against a kitchen or sitting room one!
Send clotted cream soonest!

Beautiful views.
What a fabulous neighbor.
When I lived in laguna beach California many home where built like this. Bedrooms on the bottom living areas on the top floor to see the views which was usually the ocean.
I am going to see if I can look up this Country File program. Does this one have a number or name ?

cheers, parsnip

Wonderful views and I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's Countryfile visit to the Dales. The forecast for next week is pretty dire for the north - keep warm and don't get blown away!

All that history - and what a view!

Woah! Fancy having neighbors who live in a castle and I think the upside down house is a brilliant idea.

Thank you for visiting. Thanks also for saying you liked the photos. Considering they were literally snaps from the car window, they turned out quite well. Please call again.
