Spring seems to have arrived.

Dare I whisper it?   Yesterday it snowed here all day and there was a fierce wind blowing.   I didn't put my head out of the door and really missed my walk.

This morning the temperature is almost ten degrees warmer and the snow has gone.   Water is running down the road like a river but walking is pleasant in the Southerly breeze.

On my kitchen window sill a huge bunch of daffodils has come into bloom.   They give me a surge of joy every time I look at them.   Alright, Spring might not have come, I concede that.   There may be snow again tomorrow.   But when you get a day like today you know that things are on the up.

I took a couple of photographs on my walk, looking over the  fields. There is nothing special about the photos except they are both of views I like and today - with that beautiful blue sky - they make easy viewing.

I have requested a new hub from BT as my computer engineer says my hub is faulty.   Watch this space for results - but for the time being all is well and I can get on line.

I have had such a busy morning and it has all been ordinary stuff. First the computer man came and then while he was here the oil delivery man came and he always likes a cup of tea with two sugars.   So that was another chat.   I managed to get a large pan of soup (parsnip, carrot, potato, onion, tinned tomatoes, cannelini beans and sliced up roasted sausages) into the simmering oven before the builder came to measure up for a new Aga chimney as ours has developed a hole in it.    That meant another chat and another cup of tea to be made.   And then it was lunch time.   These are the sort of days that I like best.

The builder tells me that one of his daughters is backpacking for a year - Dubai, Thailand and now Australia.   Isn't it wonderful what young folk can do these days?   I am just going to try to find her blog and read about her adventures.   She has just paid $100 to get to the top of Sydney harbour bridge - amazing.

Lovely photos Weaaver. I hope the weather holds off for you now and you have plenty of spring days.

The price of going up Sydney Harbour Bridge has gone up a bit. I remember when my nephew was doing his gap year he used to contact me and say things like "I'd love to go over the Bridge but it's 30 dollars and I don't think I can afford it." Knowing full well that Auntie Anne would have 30 dollars Australian in the post to him as soon as she could get to the exchange office! They started keeping in about £50 worth for me because I was there so often.

He tells me it was worth it - but I'm not sure I'd have tried. It's a very long way up.

Still winter here.

The aconites on your header look lovely as do the daffodils on the window sill.

Yesterday morning the top of the hill was covered in snow, this morning the snow has all gone and it is very sunny. My bees are flying energetically around their hives enjoying the sunshine and looking for food. Hopefully this is a sign that spring is coming.

I had a day a bit like that yesterday Pat. Your daffodils are a sight for sore eyes - I have noticed a few buds showing on the ones outside our front door. Your photos are lovely - doesn't a bit of sunshine make everywhere look beautiful.

Beautiful.
So lovely to have some nice day between the very cold, rainy, icy, snowy and freezing days.

cheers, parsnip

I kept thinking that was true here in the Pacific Northwest, too, until a recent trip to a local wildlife refuge where Spring seems to have been delayed.

Hope you're luckier.

We call those days "bonus spring days" - not really spring - but an idea of what is to come. Lovely photos, and your day sounds delightful.

When I lived in the UK my daffodils always flowered on 1st March (St. David's Day) - then I knew it was really spring!

I think you are a few steps ahead of us!
Totally loved the daffodils!

Here in Michigan yesterday the talk at my knitting group was of sap buckets soon going out on the village maple trees. Can Spring be far away?

I think all seasons include premonitions of the next.

That's the sort of day that I like, too, Pat. Over here, though, no delivery man would ever stop for a cup of tea. Everyone's in too much of a rush!
