Great North Run.

Today, my eldest Grand-daughter - Emily - is running in the Great North Run; this is a half-marathon run around Newcastle, where she lives. I am sponsoring her and the money is going to a community-based, volunteer-run gallery - PH Space. If you wish to learn more about them, please go to http://ph-space.tumblr.com/

There are thousands running. I put on the TV to see if I could see her - vain hope of course - but I have been thinking about her all morning and wondering how she is doing. Hopefully, I shall hear later in the day.

Just before the start the Red Arrows rlew over with their usual red-white-blue formation. It all looked very exciting.

The farmer is away today on his fortnightly walk with his walking group so I have taken the opportunity to catch up on doing the books, checking my bank statement and doing a bit of reading. Now lunch calls - the remains of last night's cauliflower cheese with some smoked ham. Now that I have written it down, I am suddenly hungry!

I do so wish my husband would love cauliflower cheese!
well, at least tolerate it.
What a lovely opportunity to catch up on all those things that one's husband, however wonderful, somehow manage to make one put off.
Happy reading.

Well done Emily and all those taking part to do something to help others. I watched quite a bit of the run and am astounded by the numbers of runners taking part.
Enjoy your lunch - I am being very naughty and eating mine as I blog!

What a great cause. We have a volunteer run Art Academy in our community of an inordinate number of artists. My grandchildren have been pleasantly educated for many summers by the wonderful artists and their programs.

Hope she did well and ran a good time.

I had a day out at an arts festival this weekend without K. Sometimes you just need to have a bit of time to yourself.

I watched a little bit of the GNR yesterday. They say it's all uphill. I hope your Grand-daughter enjoyed the experience.

She managed the run and came somewhere in the 36,000 mark (out of the 40,000 runners) - so I do hope she got lots of sponsors. Thanks for the comments = call again.
