Ten Minute Collage

After reading Derrick at Melrose Musings and Robyn at Art Propelled I have been persuaded to join a free on-line creative workshop "Collage for Self-Discovery". I thought you might be interested to see my first collage. When I get to my tenth I will post that too and you can decide whether or not I have made progress towards self-discovery (or maybe only I can say that!) One thing is for sure - I really enjoyed the experience and I felt that I was using skills in my thinking process that I had not used before. So here it is - judge for yourselves.

hello weaver! i really like this piece and it bodes well for the future that you are going to create more. perhaps you'll need to open an online shop!!!!
i wonder if you'd consider "unpacking" some of your thinking when you post your next collage? i think that the decision making process when you choose words and images and how you place them is as fascinating as the end product. have a peaceful day! steven

I like this piece and will be interested to see what comes out of the project. It looks like fun. I too like hearing about the process, it can tell you a lot about how art comes to be made.

I love this collage - particularly the use of the torn wording at the bottom of your design. Looking forward to seeing more.

Very nice Weaver! Are you finding you want to carry on beyond 10 minutes? I think the fact that I'm keeping to the under 10 minute rule is what keeps me interested and I havn't missed a day for weeks.

I think that's great. In my last job, where I was working with some fairly disturbed young people, we got them to do collages and it brought out some really good stuff.

Interesting piece, Weaver. The thought process would be good to hear too. I like it but find it a bit 'stark'. I probably put too much on mine and make them too busy.

Yours is great, Weaver. I like the composition. A lot.

Hi! This is nice! I'm not sure if I could do one in that little time. At least not one as nice as yours. Good Luck! I can't wait to see more.

I have had a look and think I may join in as well, sounds like something structured but unstructured if you see what I mean, something to get me motivated.
Like what you have done.

If you feel like you're thinking anew then you are on the right track! I'm curious to see the progression.

A thoughtful piece, and I like it.
One of my favourite sayings as well!

Well dear friends I am just about to start Lesson1 and do some creative thinking. It all looks very interesting - shall create some kind of book I think to keep track of thoughts and collages. Thanks for the response - I thrive on it!

Strong both visually and in subject matter, which appeals very much to me! The question of progress is an interesting one to me as well! An artist can improve in technique, composition, play on light, colour etc; but in the end I think only you can answer the question of self discovery. I do think it likely that this process will suprise you with it's outcomes, enjoy weaver!
