The atmosphere in The Quire is very peaceful. The
architecture is late fourteenth century (Perpendicular)
but the beautiful wooden stalls were restored after a fire
in 1829.

When we were in York in 2002 I took my 16 year old daughter and her friend to a service at the Minster. Well, it was free that way, but also though we aren't church goers generally, I wanted them to experience the place as it was meant to be used. It is amazing what those huge stone cathedrals do to the human voice. The sound is as beautiful as the architecture.

Janice - it was quite dark in there when I took the photo so am pleased with how well it has come out.

Pleased my photographs reminded you of the occasion, Thousand Flower. I agree too about the sound.
