The Wonders of Modern Science

There was a mini-disaster last night when I accidentally pressed the wrong button and completely lost my Blog List which contained all the favourite sites I like to visit. Dominic sat at his own computer and restored them all for me. It is at times like this that I realise how little I know about the computer world. It is hard for me to get my head round my blog floating in cyber-space - now I have the added problem of my blog list being restored without anyone sitting in MY chair and switching on MY computer. When I think how today's children in school are so computer-literate and I look at my feeble efforts I feel a "senior-moment" coming on. Or - having just read Lucy's comment - I shall change that to "learning opportunity" - it never does to admit to being old. I have just been thinking as I loaded the dish-washer - is there anything that today's children can't do that the previous generation can do? I can't think of a single thing but I am sure we must have grown up doing things that children today don't have to do any more. Can anyone think of anything? In the meantime - Thanks Dominic for giving me a new learning opportunity.

It's like Star-Trek at times, isn't it?

I think there's a significant area of blog-dom which is being developed and enhanced by women who are old enough to have grown up children.

I think there should be a lot of self (and mutual) congratulation going on; so many have embraced this very new medium and are learning on a 'need to know' basis as they go.

I'm glad you got your list back.

Seems like magic, doesn't it . . . but don't admit to 'senior moments' - I suggest they are 'learning opportunities' . . . shared by people of every age.

Indeed, I think computers are a wonderful binder-together-of-generations.

(Hope I'm not being too heavy in spouting my opinions here. I'm simply proud of us all, struggling to get our pictures in place . . . sort out our feeds . . . understand what on earth feeds are . . . !)

Thanks for that Lucy - I agree "learning opportunity " is much better - I am now going to change it on my blog - hate "senior moments" it suggests I am old which I refuse to be!

I absolutely subscribe to Lucy's view. Learning opportunity I can get used to. I only started on the internet in June. My daughter has been my advisor and trouble shooter
etc. I have a nasty gremlin in my
post composer. It all slips about in erratic ways. Irritating but somehow I manage to stick on a new post. Cyber space is a new universe to me but a great challenge. Glad I'm not the only struggler.
