Shops are open but no shoppers visible on the streets. The grocery store is open though they count people as they come in and go out (right now only 25% occupancy is allowed). I came across a lot of it last week during our walks and hikes, along with the scent of pine and fir cones on the ground in the woods, warmed by the sun.
Shops have nearly all been open here for about two weeks now, and it looks almost like normal in town - were it not for the masks. It was so strange and almost eerie. It was also strange to be wearing a quilted jacket and a scarf as the wind was quite cold and yet there were roses in full bloom in some gardens. It would seem that everything is abnormal at present.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06826501916623305535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-280582018791422638.post-47120920637517095422020-05-13T11:05:30.109-07:002020-05-13T11:05:30.109-07:00Your comment on the Sewing Bee programme made me l...Your comment on the Sewing Bee programme made me laugh. What terrible things they make! But I think it is unfair for the contestants because they are always given such little time in which to produce anything decent. People who like to sew, or indeed do anything creative usually spend as much time as is necessary to make a decent job of it.
I like the short story format and am currently re-reading Elizabeth Taylor's short stories, which I highly recommend. I had my first Dales zoom book club meeting this week, it is probably as near to being in the Dales as I'll be able to be for quite some time!Share my Gardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08817611851604816123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-280582018791422638.post-57935382357262220352020-05-13T11:03:50.533-07:002020-05-13T11:03:50.533-07:00Oh yes, Esme is wonderful!Oh yes, Esme is wonderful!JayCeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01373622852406554111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-280582018791422638.post-2664816767252633682020-05-13T09:58:59.291-07:002020-05-13T09:58:59.291-07:00I agree JayCee to some extent about the Sewing Bee...I agree JayCee to some extent about the Sewing Bee but I am not a sewer myself so I rather enjoy the gimmicky side of things and I like the two 'judges' who I think are real experts. The Weaver of Grasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947971556343746883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-280582018791422638.post-57425569028570542422020-05-13T09:43:22.175-07:002020-05-13T09:43:22.175-07:00I've just finished a fascinating book called &...I've just finished a fascinating book called "The Riviera Set" by Mary S.
