Vaccination

Yes - my first vaccination was this morning.   The volunteer at the Surgery rang me late yesterday afternoon and asked me if I could get to the Vaccination Centre for half past eight.   Luckily this fits in nicely with my carer who was only too happy to do the ferrying.   So at ten minutes past eight (I got up at six and dressed and breakfasted before she came) my carer, my zimmer frame and I set off.   At that time we assumed we would be the first - how wrong we were - Iwould guess they had been going at least half an hour.   It was all well organised - we had to mask up of course- and we had to sit for a quarter of an hour afterwards in case of any ill effects.  Now I am back home with a piece of paper which tells me I must go for my booster on the 25th March.

The News and the pictures from America and the Capitol building this morning are  not the kind of thing we would expect from such a civilised country - it is all very sad.   I do hope it sorts itself out quickly.

We have snow here and icy roads and it is very wintry.   Now and again the sun shines straight into my sitting room and then, a minute later, the sky clouds in the looks full of snow.   None so far today but plenty forecast for the next few days.   Luckily I managed to get into my carer's car quite easily.   In fact my only difficulty was getting up out of the chair after my enforced quarter of an hour sit down after the jab.   I couldn't get up, even using my zimmer.   But as luck would have it, the young man sitting for his quarter of an hour in front of me was an ambulance man.    He had me up and moving on the count of three!

Also I have had more exercise today than I have had in the past three weeks since the weather turned wintry and already I can feel how much it has done me good.  I had begun to think my walking would never recover.   Now I know it will.

Keep safe.   Keep warm.  Keep the old brain exercised.   We'll get there in the end and all will be back to normal.   See you tomorrow metaphorically speaking.  Off to chat to the Physio who has just come about having a trolley with brakes to carry my lunch from oven to table.

What a great start to the day for you - I'm so glad that you got the jab and it all seemed to go smoothly. Hope the rest of the day goes as well ! Sheila

Hooray! Well done Weave. I'm glad you can resume exercise again too.

Well good on you Pat, life and people seem to be looking after you really well, and you deserve it. If only it was going as smoothly elsewhere.
I heard on the radio this morning that there aren't even any vaccinations in Kent yet, let alone people being vaccinated.

Wonderful news about your vaccination, and your walking. But don't start jogging just yet!

I'm glad you hear you've received your first round of vaccination! Good, too, to be up and around and doing things, even if it was to sit and wait elsewhere. -Jenn

Excellent news, both for the jab and returning mobility. We watched the scenes on Capitol Hill last night with horror - Trump and his followers should be ashamed of themselves. It will be interesting to see what is done about him, if anything, in the next two weeks.

It sounds as if you had a busy morning. I'm getting my vaccination next Wednesday - great news as I thought I would have to wait quite a bit longer.
After all that 'excitement' I hope you will enjoy a pleasant relaxing afternoon. Freezing fog for us today and it hasn't lifted yet - 1.30 pm.
The news from America is shocking and disgraceful. I hope things will calm down soon for everyone's sake.

I am so pleased you had your first jab, and everything went so well! Your second jab is in March? Over here, the vaccine is in two stages with 3 weeks between the first and the second jab. So far, nobody I know has been vaccined, but the campaign has started in care homes and hospitals, and currently nobody I know is there. The 89-year-old lady next door says she will wait; I urged her to make an appointment but of course it is her personal decision.

Wonderful news, you must be very pleased. How kind people can be, your carer, the ambulance man, it restores your faith after the awful happenings in America. I was at the hairdresser today, a long overdue cut, and was given a beautiful wrapped New Years gift of two lipsticks, perfect colours for me and excellent quality . Hope we can both keep this positivity going, we will get through.

I am happy to hear you were able to get out for your vaccination. That is great news! It is hard to watch what happened in my country yesterday. Trump is definitely to blame and should be removed from office immediately. He has stopped acting as the president so he might as well leave now.

Great news! Having the protection of the vaccine is fantastic. The process for you seems quite good as well. Wonderful that you are seeing good progress toward restoring your mobility and know for sure you will be fine. The USA has undergone horrific times regarding our presidency. The intent and means of one individual can and does cause damage beyond our wildest imagination. All on the world stage.

That's good news.
Vaccinations should start in all areas of Suffolk this week after just being in Ipswich and Lowestoft to start with.
As for the news from the US - just so sad.

Well, I'm think that the awful events of last night will be a catalyst. For far too long people have been simply tolerating things that should never have ignored. The non-stop lies and the knot heads who gobble them up as gospel truth have done great harm to our nation. We have lost the ability to think critically. The media is also to blame for taking so long to call a liar a liar.

I'm glad to read that you're able to be vaccinated. For the most part, I think around these parts only key workers (and those who queue jump) have been able to be vaccinated.

Be safe and well!

Hi Derek, there are definitely vaccinations going on in Kent. My aunt and uncle had there first one two weeks ago and are scheduled for their second one need weekend.

Sounds like a great start to your day Pat. You are a joy to read - always positive. Viv

So pleased for you getting the vaccination and in the process having a morning out with nice people. It must be wonderful to realise you are really on the mend. A weight off your mind I'm sure.

Thanks - we just have to all believe that there will come a day when normal life will resume - in all areas.

What wonderful news to hear that you have gotten your vaccine! I bet it was nice getting out of the house also for a change. I was able to get us signed up on a list to get the vaccine today. Of course it could be months before we actually get it but at least we are signed up for it now. Take care Pat!

In answer to Country Cottage, I was quoting what a doctor said on Radio Kent this morning. Glad to hear your news, well done to your aunt and uncle.

We're not nearly as "civilized" as you would think but this just didn't happen yesterday.... the chaos has been going on all summer with burning buildings, looted stores and trashed police cars. Yesterday was only a continuation of that whole mess. It will all end when people start acting like adults... so I think we've got to wait a good long while yet. :) So glad you got your vaccinations underway. It sounds like your country has the process very orderly. ~Andrea xoxo

So good to hear that you have your first jab and protection against Covid. Things are slow here in Wales and I doubt my husband (who is 80)will be called before we move. I am Tier 4 - despite being vulnerable - so probably won't get mine much before March. I am glad that you are covered now anyway and you must feel relieved too. It's good to hear that you are getting more mobile again - I have to keep chasing my husband to move around more as his illness and steroids seem to have really knocked him for 6 and he tires so quickly.

I cannot believe Trump is still allowed to be in office after throwing his weight around and inciting riots like that. I hope they have short-circuited the Red Button or he will be playing with that next, to make as much trouble as possible.

That's the best possible news Pat!! The jab, moving well and a trolley with brakes. I'm delighted - and after the news from the USA, it has lifted my spirits.

Having the first dose of vaccine does not make me immune to the disease for a while.

Take care everyone.

You've had a good and hopeful day. There's nothing here about seniors being vaccinated.

Wish we could get vaccine readily here

Congratulations on getting your vaccine- so happy to hear this great news!
I do apologize for my country's riotous behavior. I am so appalled by it all.

I hope your new trolley arrives quickly. The treachery of snow and ice on a hill makes for an accident prone roadway. No snow here. Mild sunny days and freezing nights. Your new soup recipe sounds delicious and perfect for a cold winter day.
