This and that

Lovely that the patio is finished.   I apologise if the script is a different size again.   It is entirely my fault - at present my hand is very shaky and try as I might I can't always hit the right place.   Anyway, hopefully here is a picture of my finished patio:

The shadow in the bottom right hand corner is the shadow of the handrail.   I am very happy with it and it is so nice and light after the very dark concrete and when the sun is shining it glitters here and there with quartz.

The next job to be tackled by my gardener is the removal of those two lopped evergreen trees - they are neither use nor ornament.  Beyond them is the patch not yet planted which has been infested with Mares Tail weed.   It has now had four lots of specialised week killer and in line with the instructions which came with the weedkiller I shall now plant it up with low growing rockery plants which cover quickly and my gardener will keep cutting back the Mares Tail next year as it grows through - hopefully weakening it.  It has been so satisfying to get this major job done - and to look out of the patio and computer room windows on to a pleasant scene at last.

Puss has been around again and given everywhere a thorough inspection and is now sitting on the wall watching me.   I know if I stand up she will go away quickly.   Like Rachel with her 'stray' kitten I know that this cat has me weighed up perfectly.   Not a stray at all, she is just passing through on her daily prowl.   But hopefully she sees it as part of her job to keep my garden vermin-free.

It has been a pleasant day here today albeit cooler and more Autumnal - but dry and with hazy sunshine for most of the day.  It is set to stay like this for most of the week ahead I believe.   I look at the dreadful fires in America- how do they bear to live with the threat of this sort of thing hanging over them I wonder?

That looks wonderful, no wonder you are pleased. It looks much bigger than I imagined. It will look good to look out on even in the rain!

Gorgeous patio!
Have you considered a statute?

How lovely the patio is and low maintenance too - great for you. There are a lot of crawling rockery plants. My husband removed his snow-in-summer from our rockery and planted it elsewhere. It has regrown in the rockery and needs cutting back. Hope you manage to get the appropriate plants for covering the mare's tail section.

That looks gorgeous.

Sally Pumpkin Studio - I have indeed considered a statue and am on the look out for one.I did consider a bird bath but my mobility is bad and I would find it hard to keep it topped up.
Yes Pat - Snow in Summer is indeed good for covering anything - it might well be a good plant to consider. Thank you for the suggestion.

It looks lovely Pat and so clean and fresh. You've been fighting this war with Mare's Tail since you moved in haven't you, let's hope next year is the year you win :-)

Looks great. I have quite a few statue things. Favourite are the Buddhas. I have two.

A transformation, you must be very pleased with the result.

Your patio looks beautiful and the dwarf conifers add shape, texture and a touch of colour.
When the top bed has been planted you'll have the best garden in the street.
The terrible fires in America must be terrifying - I can't imagine how I would cope with that situation.

Oh Pat, it looks wonderful! It is so neat, tidy and professional looking! Yes, some type of a statue would look good there. You have quite a talent for planning out a garden space. Congratulations on a job well planned and now done!

It's looking really good out there, Weaver.

It all looks so nice Weave. It is finally raining here, we are hoping enough rain that the firefighters can get the fires under control.

It looks lovely, and extra light in your home too!

It looks super tidy, like everything in and around your bungalow, Pat! I was thinking of a birdbath, too, but you are right, it does not make sense when you can not always keep it clean and topped up.

The patio looks great, clear, bright and easy to maintain. Will you be able to use Percy out there? It seems to have taken quite a lot of effort to organise but the result is well worth it.

FB No Percy - it is up steps and Percy doesn;t do steps.
Yes - I hadnt realised but it has made the house even lighter.
Thanks so much for all your replies. I am going for a walk with Percy now. I have just had my forty minute Zoom with friends.

A stone pedestal sundial maybe?

Love your patio! So serene.

That is lovely! I really liked all the stone covered garden areas I saw the one time we visited England. I just don't think we could do that here, because they would all be sprayed everywhere with snow blowers, but I love the look of it. Well done to your gardeners! -Jenn

Nice and bright and neat..just remember to keep those wee trees trimmed, or they will grow tall!
Don't worry about the size of the writing..your header picture is beautiful, and it is easy to enlarge the writing to the desired size.
