Rubbish

There are always going to be people around who don't care - people who drive without a thought for other road users - people who never put a single can or item of food into the trolleys for the homeless which are in our supermarket.  I could go on, but the thing that has'got me going' this morning is the item on Breakfast Television about the dumping of rubbish.   Do these people who dump huge piles of rubbish give no thought at all to the farmers whose land they often dump it on, or at the very least block the gates to their fields, or the unsightly mess of a lay by full of goodness knows what - just a mess of rubbish?

I found it annoying when I lived on the farm and walking Tess would find folk had thrown take-away cartons and drinks cans out of their car windows.   About once a week I would take a bag with me on my morning walk and usually manage to fill it with rubbish on the lane sides.

But the rubbish shown on 'Breakfast' was in an altogether different league - huge piles of it or even buildings stacked with bales of it.    The cost to our Councils and Local Authorities for moving this and disposing of it runs into millions countrywide. I wonder what these folk's houses and gardens are like.

To lighten my mind after that rant - there was about an inch of snow on the tops of the walls in my back garden and it wasn't freezing.   However, when I looked at my snow covered car and at the state of the road outside I decided discretion was the better part of valour and cancelled my usual 9.30 hair appointment.   Now, at a quarter to twelve I have tidied round the bungalow and am sitting here in my dressing gown (having got deeply into my book (detective novel) over my breakfast.   But does it really matter?   Now I am going to shower, dress and cook something for my lunch.   Could be a jacket potato - I haven;t had one this week and I have some oriental vegetables so they will be a good filling (soy sauce?).   The sun is just coming out so should the snow melt from the footpaths in time I might go round the block with Percy (yes I have chosen his name).

I agree with you about the rubbish. We rgularly have to pick up discarded fast-food wrappers and empty drink bottles and cans from our lane where they have been thrown from car windows. There is a lay-by just along the lane that has two rubbish bins, but still people park there, eat their lunch then throw the wrappers on the ground, ignoring the bins. It makes me so mad!

The pictures on tv this morning would make anyone rant! I try to pick up litter when out on my walks, but this was in a whole different league.

We are talking here of sofas, fridges, rubble, baths, window frames, you name it, it gets dumped.

The maximum fine for fly tipping is £25,000 I have never heard of anyone being fined that amount.

I am appalled at the dumping of rubbish when it could quite easily be taken to a proper tip.
I am still surprised when I realise that it doesn't matter what time I get dressed, though usually it is quite early. I think we have earned the luxury of not having to adhere to a strict time table any more. Your jacket potato and it's filling sounds delicious, and I hope Percy will take good care of you when you both go for a walk later.

From what I heard this morning the tipping you saw is by organised gangs. They are paid unknowingly by people to get rid of their rubbish which is them dumped. Our last home was down a single track road and one of the things that decided us was that it was increasingly being used by small builders etc to dump. If it was in a field gate the farmer has to pay. I got so fed up with looking at the piles that would arrive in the dead of night. It sent my BP soaring. Our council were very good clearing it and my husband also used to root around for clues as to where it had come from.
Our WI and the Parish Council do a litter pick twice a year which helps to keep the village litter free but I do not u derstand people who throw things out of the car window

Dumping trash is a huge problem everywhere. I go out to my front yard and have to pick up bottles, cans, plastic bags, and such. Drives me crazy that people are so thoughtless.

Bonnie said...

I could never understand how people could drop their trash where ever they might happen to be! It is not that difficult to find a trash can. Then you see the large dumping of all kinds of junk and trash and you realize the more serious side of this. Unfortunately there are people that just don't care.

While councils continue to charge people who take builders' waste to the tip there will always be those who dump it illegally, particularly if they know they won't get caught.

The Weaver of Grass said...

John certainly has a point as far as the huge piles of waste are concerned - but that still leaves those folk who just throw their rubbish out of their car windows.

Thanks for the comments.

The amount of rubbish thrown from cars along the roadside is just so awful - you can see it much more in the winter when all the grass and foliage has died down. It is just as bad along the beach near our cottage, there seems no end to it all and it is such a simple thing to take it home and put it in the bin provided by the council and which is emptied weekly. Other than put our rubbish in the bin and then put the bin out we do not have to do anything else yet people cannot even do that!

Percy is a fine name for a first rate walking mate.

Fly tipping is a serious crime, and should be treated as such. Horrible people.

Bea said...

It's the same here, unfortunately. In addition to the frequent litterer, there are those who actually take what should have gone in the bin at home to public trash cans. Across from my place seems to be a spot to dump (mostly) old, broken pieces of furniture. It's nuts.

Librarian said...

It's an attitude I will never understand. From when we were little, my sister and I were taught not to leave any rubbish anywhere else than in the bin, be it a sweets wrapper or a can of drink, not even a tissue even though that would decompose at some stage.
I would seriously like to know why people do that, I'd like to talk to someone who throws takeaway containers out of their cars etc., out of genuine interest in their reasoning - or is there none?

The illegal dumping of rubbish has become big business involving organised criminal gangs. It has become out of control.

Thanks everyone. It seems we are all of one voice - but it doesn't make any difference does it - sadly.

HSV-2. Both my husband and I tested positive for HSV-1. Last year I found
out my husband was cheating, so I decided to do a retest on all STDs
including HSV-1 and HSV-2, only difference is that this time I went to a
different clinic. Anyway I tested positive for HSV-1 which I knew I had but
surprisingly HSV-2 as well, I was so upset and got divorced with my
husband. 3 months ago a friend of mine recommended me to an African Herbal

all these years to him and he encouraged me that I will be cured
completely!. I ordered for his herbal exploit/medicine and used it
accordingly to his direction and within short period of using the herbal
medicine I was cured completely from my HSV-1 and HSV-2. I'm so relieved to
say that I've not had even one outbreak ever since again and I was also
tested Negative by my doctor. I'm feeling so great! from within and I truly

Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I’ve seen the great importance of natural supplements and the wonderful work Dr Edidia has done in my husband life.I was looking for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD treatments for my husband who was 72yrs old, my husband has COPD and cancer, his condition was very critical which i was very afraid that will not survive it.His white blood count was very low right now and his doctors are planning on starting some chemo or other treatment soon.. I don't believe he will last long if he does this.. His COPD  is getting worse even though he hasn't smoked in 30 years. so i decided to come online to see if there will be better alternative, during my research i saw a lady post about doctor Dr Edidia  who has power over deadly disease, so i decided to contact him because i really do not care about what my husband was talking in all i want for him is for him to get well for me because he was all i have, my husband took the remedies that he send to us through UPS  as he told us and few weeks later my husband stop to notice that symptoms of his disease are begging to leave him so he went back to his Doctor and he was told he no longer has those diseases.
My husband is totally free of COPD and cancer if not for doctor Edidia who help us rid this problem there is a possibility that my husband wouldn't be alive today.
