Bright as a button.

This morning I took my car the twenty five miles or so into Northallerton for its yearly service and its first MOT.   That is a long journey for me these days and as it was in the rush hour (and there were road works and traffic lights) it was not a particularly enjoyable journey.  But by golly how perky my car was after its service.   Just a tiny tickle on the accelerator and I shot forward and putting my foot anywhere near the brake brought me instantly to a stop.  They gave my vehicle a wash and brush up too so I sailed home in fine form.

But I am tired.   I am in need of a new sitting room rug so I called into our good Furniture Shop but their selection of rugs was miserable.   However the bacon, brie and cranberry panini and the pot of tea I had in there certainly fortified me for the journey home.   And as it was not the rush hour it
was a much more pleasant journey.   No lambs in the fields yet but plenty of crocus and snowdrops out in gardens and that makes the heart sing.

Lunch out with friend D tomorrow and a reminder on my shopping list that one of my Great Grand daughters is four on Thursday so a Birthday Card is necessary  - easy to slip money in and post it at the same time.   Wouldn't wish to be four again with the world in the state it is in - would you?

Bacon, brie and cranberry panini? That would solve most of my problems at a stroke.
No. I am not sure what the future holds for today's four year olds. My great niece and nephew have a very uncertain future ahead of them.

What you have never had you never miss so a four year old will grow up in the world of its own time and will take it all for granted in his/her stride. I am glad your trip to Northallerton went well and the day turned out well.

Doesn't it feel good to have a job like the car servicing done and behind you! I love the sound of your lunch today. Enjoy your evening!

Good to get the servicing done and dusted for another year. Middle daughter had to drive from Cardiff to Bristol today - caught up in a 16 mile tailback following an accident . . .

Your lunch sounded tasty. What a shame you didn't find a rug to your taste. I am guessing you will have to go further afield for one now.

I expect that the world today would be just as strange to our grandparents as the future will be to us - just the way of things, although I often say that I wouldn't like to be young now.

Keep driving Weave! On the other hand, nobody chooses to be 4 I think.

I read our youngsters are being traumatized by all the talk of global warming. It's a no-win situation all around.

But was the world in a great state when you were four years old? Perhaps your bit of it was, but surely there was a lot you were unaware of.

We have just ordered a new rug for our sitting room (from La Redoute). Billy has been eating the old one, and we have bought a new shaggy white one; which I think may have been a mistake. Still, if he eats that we can always replace it later.

I suppose every generation will have its challenges. I seem to remember food shortages, an outside loo, the Cuban missile crisis. My parents could remember the times before the NHS. I think we sometimes look back and only remember the good things. I do think people were kinder and more considerate in my childhood, there was less litter but different kinds of pollution (remember smog?)
Anyway, I hope you find a rug you like enough to buy.

That is my favourite panini filling - scrumptious. We have sunshine here today but it is very chilly. The perfect winter day, with signs of spring slowly emerging.
I am quite glad that I will be 84 this year and not 4 years old. I haven't the energy to go through it all again! I must admit it has been a good life and continues to be so. I am very fortunate.

Thanks to you all. You all talk such a lot of sense today. And you are right - I was almost seven when the Second World War began - the world goes on.

Thanks for the reminder … mine needs it's first MOT too, and I thought I would treat him to a service at the same time :-)

Yes, he's a boy. I know cars and vehicles are supposed to be feminine … but he's not. He needs a name methinks!!
