Thursday

First of all to address the irritating problem of my e mails.   Several of you send me regular e mails, which I do appreciate.   I love to get them and to answer them.   But at the moment this is impossible.   Some weeks ago I was put on an updated e mail system which BT said would be much better.   I am yet to be convinced of this.   My latest thing is that there is not 'send' coming up at the bottom so that when I finish writing I suddenly realise I can't send it so it languishes in my save box waiting until suddenly (I hope) I can send them again.   Trying to bypass this by clicking on 'reply' makes no difference at all - there is still no method I can see of actually sending my e mail anywhere.  Anyone any ideas as to what I can do please?

Next to today's jollifications.   Our old friend Winn (real name Lavinia) is ninety-eight years young today and twelve of us went down to Tennant s cafe for breakfast at ten o'clock.   And did she enjoy it.   She had bacon, egg, fried bread and a pot of tea (we all had a different combination).   Everyone brought her a birthday card and after our feast we sang Happy Birthday to You and she joined in loudly, substituting 'me' for 'you'.  We had our photograph taken standing at the foot of the staircase - if I get a copy I will add it to this post.   It really was a lovely occasion and she enjoyed every moment.   I found myself close to tears several times (one of the hazards of getting old I'm afraid) but they were tears of joy not sadness.

The rain is still falling but not as heavy and the sky is lightening - if only the sun would emerge for five minutes we would all feel better for it.

That was a fun celebration of your friend and I would like to see the photo in future. I tear up at happy moments, whether in life or in a book or movie so I know what you mean. I hope you get your email send function sorted.

That was lovely, I have teared up too! I too hope you get your emails sorted. I take it you have asked Google. Speaking to BT would be a nightmare, it usually is. Never happy when others change things....

When I feel other people's kindness, love and friendship towards myself, I can also get a little tearful, and I am about 30 years younger than you are, so I guess it is not an age-related thing.
How wonderful to be able to celebrate one's 98th birthday with a group of friends and enjoy it to the full!
Can't help with your email problem as I do not know your provider's system. Some are designed in a way that the "send"-button is at the top of the page and not at the bottom, where one would look for it.

What a lovely way to celebrate such an occasion. Good friends and kindness are worth more than champagne and diamonds. I too find that I become emotional and tearful at the drop of a hat. Very embarassing sometimes.
With regard to the BT email missing Send button problem, the only reference I can find to this online is the following BT forum link - I don't know if this will help?

I can only think that you possibly need to scroll down a bit further to reveal the send arrow or a "Send" button. I had the problem myself and had to do this.

Wondered my I'm not getting replies to the odd E-mail I send you. Have you received today's one about the vet bills?

Maybe you could use your google account? If your home page shows a small square multicolored box top left you its your google email box. You can make up a new email address as a back up and send emails from there.

My e-mail account shows a tiny paper airplane at the top of the page. You're supposed to guess that's the Send button.

Constantly changing things justifies their existence at work. Similar to an attorney who never winds up a case. It's all calculated. In the meantime, frustration grows.

Someone told me they'd seen blue sky at work today, although I never saw it myself

The sun almost shone today, but not quite. What a lovely way to celebrate your friend's birthday and it's a great photo of you all. Are you standing at the back of the group, behind a lady wearing pale green?
I do hope you get your e mail problem sorted out. It must be so frustrating.

In all the time I've used Email, I've never once had any trouble with it (I use Hotmail). I cannot imagine that there's an insurmountable problem; maybe you should get someone in to take a look.

She doesn't look 98.

Lovely happy photograph, as Rachel says she doesn't look 98. But there again the birthday celebrations of Peggy in the Archers at a hundred today is something to think about.

Why, Thelma, is the 100 birthday of a radio soap opera character something to think about?

Hi Rachel, the very fact that she is working at a 100 years old, we have certainly moved on when everyone was expected to die round 60/70 years old.

Rachel Phillips said...

Oh, I see, she really is 100. I thought you meant it was the storyline.

Quite right for those who guessed - I am fifth along from the right, standing between the lady in blue and the lady next to her, both wearing scarves. I am wearing a block V-necked sweater with quite a low neck.

Thanks for all your comments.

Or to put it simply, in the back row, behind and in between, the two ladies in green in front.
