I am on my way upstairs to bed but my son has just rung and I can't resist putting on a final update about the kittens.
I had originally thought there were seven kittens but when my son got there this morning there were only six so I thought I must have miscounted.
Tonight the two traps were set and baited with food. The kitten lady had said she would return later in the evening and my son was worried that somebody might pass and see the kittens in the trap and think they had got in by mistake and let them out, so he decided to sit in the gateway in his car to watch over them until June came.
He suddenly noticed something on top of the trap and it looked like a kitten. Thinking that one of the kittens had got out of the trap he went quietly across to have a look. It was a seventh kitten!
When June came she took the trap with the two kittens in and left the other trap set and baited in the hopes of catching the seventh kitten. She stopped at the caravans (it is only a 5 site so she didn't have to search for the people who had helped) to tell the people she had caught the two kittens. As she left after speaking to them she thought she would just nip back up the road in case the kitten had gone straight into the trap and sure enough it had - it was eating the cat food.
So all seven kittens are now safe and sound and we can go to sleep knowing we have done a good job today. Night night everybody.

Bless you Weaver!
Nite nite weave
Wonderful news, sleep well.
Good work all, including the kittens.
Yep! But what about the eighth kitten? What happened to her?
This is good news indeed! Thank you for caring, Jan
I too will sleep better tonight knowing those 7 little cuties are safe and hopefully will be taken into loving homes soon.
Well done by all! X
YP, you are a ornery one; let us rest in peace tonight. Good for all of you Pat. More stars in your crowns.
You, your son and the other helper/s are truly good people, Weave!
I love a happy ending. God bless you and all of the others who helped those poor lit'l kitties.
What a busy day for you, and an extra concern you really didn't need to have to deal with. But thank goodness you were so responsible, and hopefully soon seven families will enhave the joy of years of (neutered) cat companionship. I'd love another cat, but our son has developed a quite severe allergy to them - after cuddling a cat in bed every night of his childhood! Apparently it is not uncommon, once the person spends time without a cat in their environment. Bother!
A good day's work though Weaver!
That's such good news.
Absolutely brilliant!
That's wonderful news - and did you know that today is International Cat Day?
A good end to the day.
Quite a team effort and a good result. X
Brilliant! What a relief.
I must have missed the previous post. I didn't know you were trapping kittens!
It is difficult to keep up Tom. I went to bed and there were four kittens and then six and now wake up and there's seven and people in caravans and miscounts and vigils. I feel quite worn out reading it.
Lovely story with a good ending. Well done Pat.
Thank heavens for that - 7 is a BIG litter too! What a relief to hear they are all saved and will go on to have loving homes. If I lived nearer I wouldn't have been able to resist a ginger one . . .
Well done!
I have only just come across all this drama and excitement. More than you need just now, I am sure. How good it is to know that there has been a good outcome and hopefully the kittens will each find a loving home. The cruelty of abandoning such tiny kittens is despicable.
That is wonderful news, Pat. These kittens were so lucky that you came across them.
Brilliant with a happy ending...
Well done, all!
Good job! Now they will have a chance.
Thank you so much for your extra update on the kittens. So, so glad it was a happy ending. You have done so well saving those kittens - good on you ... wish there were more people in the world like you.
Well done. You are a star.
This is becoming like Going Gently
Good Work!
I've been trapping cats every weekend in a neighbor's back yard. He started feeding two cats after his wife died a couple of years ago. When I knocked on his door to ask if he needed help the count had grown to three dozen. Mostly young cats...kittens having kittens. The older cats have been spayed or neutered and returned to live healthier lives. The kittens have gone to be adopted into new homes. I must capture four more kittens and a couple of adults, but they've grown wise to me. The total count now is down to ten.I'm switching around from sardines to chicken etc.
What I really want everyone to know is that a female cat can get pregnant as young as 16 weeks old. Everyone is shocked to hear that and it has caused some other neighbors to take action, which I applaud. Our local humane society dispatches people to pick up the cats and they doctor them for free, then drive them back here, if too feral to be adopted out.
You definitely saved these lives and prevented a population explosion.
Have you told the D &S?
wish there were more people in the world like you.

Thank goodness for that, you have no idea how much I have been thinking of those little one's on the loose. Thanks for the update.
