Today

After quite a wet morning (although warm) this afternoon has turned out very pleasantly warm and sunny.

The morning was spent firstly drinking coffee in our usual coffee house, but as friend W couldn't make it we bought her a scone and I took it up to her on my way home.

This afternoon was spent with the solicitor and then Tess and I had a gentle walk down 'our' lane.
As my computer is not fully cooperating with what I want it to do and I have also run out of black printing ink, which I need to complete the tasks anyway, I shall switch it off and go back to reading my book club book - Tim Winton's 'Cloud Street'.   Have you read it?   Tim Winton is an Australian and it is set in that country - I am really getting into it and thoroughly enjoying it.   Give it a whirl if you get the opportunity.

Hi Pat, well that day has finally come here on Sheppey - it's pouring hard with rain, it started at 5.00pm and is set to go on relentless through the night and so our very, very long dry spell has finally ended in the short term at least.

Sounds like your weather today was ours yesterday. Today was all wet and rather chilly, tomorrow should be better - or at least we hope so, since we will be going to the Great Yorkshire Show.
How kind of you to bring your friend a scone!

I heard on the radio yesterday that drinking coffee is good for you. They didn't mention scones.

Where do you buy your printer ink, Weave? I get mine from eBay as there are plenty of companies that sell re-fills for a quarter of the price of original news, and they do not mess-up your printer as they scare you about. If your printer refuses to recognise them, then just hold down the reset button for a few seconds and it will work with any cartridge.

I stick with the authentic Cannon refills for my Cannon printer, both black and colours, and get them from the local Tescos at what I consider to be OK prices. Tried a couple of the companies selling like for like type cartridges and found that they ran out of ink far too quickly.

I haven't come across Tim Winton's work but will keep an eye out for him. We had much needed rain yesterday and this morning is dull but with a promise of cheering up later. I am going out for lunch today and am ready to go and filling in time on my laptop. Hope you get your printer up and running again, and that all your arrangements are proceeding smoothly. Everything has gone quiet again for me, but that is probably good. My son and son-in-law both think I could be moving toward the end of August though no one is taking bets on it.

I'm pleased your enjoying the book Weaver Pat - I read it and liked it a lot. I know a few people though who could not even finish reading it. I will be interested to hear your overall impressions when you finish.

Tom: I have not had Derek's experiences with my ink cartridges and have always got them from the same place. They come by return and are much cheaper - and the range
is enormous so am sure they must have yours in stock. The address is:
www.cartridgediscount.co.uk - hope you find this helpful.

I am glad some of you enjoyed the book. I am having a job to put it down.

Thanks everyone.

I am re-reading Rosemunde Pilcher's "September" as I do adore her writing style. I know you know who she is. I'm loving hearing about Scotland & England during the summertime, and reading how all the families are looking forward to the grand party to be given in September.
So I understand what you're saying. On a somber note, I was told yesterday about the death of a long time friend, his son moved him into a care facility away from Houston 2-3 years ago. He lost track of all his friends and finally just gave up. I am very sad too. Love reading your posts.

Like so many others, I look forward to reading your daily posts for their simplicity--and yet also for their depth. Thank you, Pat.
