I have had a much busier day today and it has been very much easier. So that seems to be the answer - keep busy.
Winter has returned and there is a cold North wind blowing. In spite of this Derek, my new-found gardener, has been and has done a couple of hours emptying pots and filling them with small pansies (violas) in shades of pink, lilac and purple. They really do look very pretty. He spent the rest of his two hours doing other tidying up jobs and I feel much better about how things look.
,We met for coffee and scones as usual this morning and then, after a rather rushed lunch, I had to go to the physiotherapist. I started out a quarter of an hour early and Tess and I went for a walk down a pretty lane, where Tess had a thousand smells.
Now we are back, my dinner (cottage pie and Mediterranean roasted vegetables) is in the oven and I am catching up on a few blogs.
Tomorrow is another busy day - I hope it will be a bit warmer.

Sounds good. Hope your physio did not put you in agony. Hope you get warmer. Not cold here, but as always, breezy.
Please can you send Derek to Suffolk as my apricot tree has arrived and the ground is like rock after no rain for weeks!
Must do exercises, Must do exercises! keep forgetting since we moved
Sounds like a good day. I'm glad
I feel like we were conned into thinking Summer was on it's way .... I almost got my t shirts out of the box they're in, but now it's woolly jumper weather again so I'm glad I didn't bother.
I love Mediterranean vegetables :-)
Pink, lilac and purple shades of pansies must really look very pretty! Your day sounds very busy and also a very good one. Keep busy but do not get too tired.
Greetings Maria x
Yesterday was very cold in a N. wind but today has been pleasantly warm and sunny again here in Kent. But after the very dry winter and now this dry Spring, it is getting very difficult to get anything in the ground, which is beginning to crack already. Fortunately you are a naturally busy person and that is the best way to move on and hopefully Derek will plant a garden that makes you feel better. You sound so much more positive.
It very warm here. Most days 90. We had a super short spring and I think Summer is here.
Busy days are good.
cheers, parsnip
Good to keep busy, hope it warms up a bit for you. We're warm here, well up in the 80's. I could use a gardener, my knees are yelping at me after being out in the garden planting.
We have an East wind here right now - I don't know if I would swap.
I bet Tess was happy with her thousand smells.
It's been colder here too. I wish the wind would swing back to the South and warm us up AND bring the Swallows home for the summer.
A gardener sounds like a great idea and it sounds like he has been cracking on with jobs for you.
I hope that the Physiotherapist was able to make you more comfortable.
I got out for another walk today (along the valley bottom this time) and have clocked up over 12,000 steps so far. Hopefully a few calories burned off too.
Ahhh, winter always lets us know that... its not yet gone to the sun.
morning coffee
night snow filled my flip-flops
another cup
Smiles_!
Sending good wishes your way always....Be well! Glad you found someone to garden for you.
After a lovely spring like day on Sunday, we have it cold and rainy today..to quote you, April I guess. Your routine is carrying you along which is such a good thing...comforting hopefully. Thinking about you and sending thoughts of strength.
Coping is what it's all about Pat, - those first few weeks are so bereft and lonely, and keeping busy seems to fill the void and give one other things to think about. Think of you often...
Thunderstorms in south Texas this afternoon. Very spring like weather for us but not cold. The rain will certainly cut down on my dogs walk and sniff time today.
The violas should cheer up your garden no end. how lucky you have found a gardener - they are as scarse as hens' teeth over here.
I am glad you are so busy, I am sure that helps. Thinking of you always.
Pansies are perfect at this time of year. I might be tempted to follow suit, just to get a little extra colour around here. I like how you described Tess having a thousand smells! I listened to a CBC radio programme where a woman was interviewed who studied the intricate workings of a dog's nose and ability to smell. It was very interesting. -Jenn
So glad you kept your appt. with the physiotherapist. I think in addition to writing, exercise will be another avenue to help you vent the frustration of "why?" and heartbreak.
Staying busy provides momentary distraction. It's the alone time that's so difficult, especially when you've spent many happy hours, both of you content to put together a jigsaw puzzle.
Be very good to yourself.
Sounds good.. you are feeling good now.. big hug..
Busy is good, but please take care of yourself, too, and allow the "down times" as well. I am glad to hear you are having proper meals. When I am on my own (which is most of the time during the week), I hardly ever cook because I can not be bothered.
Derek sounds like a definite asset. And Tess and her ten thousand smells, slows the progress of a walk a little but that may well suit you.

A garden and its flowers always brings colour into our lives. Freezing North wind here as well, and no swallows, though Paul marked them on the calendar as coming a couple of days ago, but a friend in Oxfordshire has spied them so they are on their way.
So a good day for you, Tess and the garden, here's to many more like that.
Glad you had a busy day and could enjoy your garden more after Derek's ministrations! He sounds like a real 'find'. It has still been sunny in Somerset and not too cold so we are being very lucky with our weather.
Thanka for all the positive vibes coming my way. Please keep them coming, they do help.
Stay positive. It's the best way forward. You still have my thoughts and prayers.
You are doing all the things that are right for you. Listening to yourself and going with that is the very best you can do. After my son's death in an accident I worked so hard, and so late into the night, simply to wear myself out and keep from thinking. I also blogged almost every day but found I could write nothing else, no poetry, no stories. I could not do my storytelling as I usually did for over 6 months. We all have our ways to finding the way through.
You stay in my thoughts and prayers. I know you to be a strong woman, and yet I hope knowing that so many care about and for you is some small ease as you continue on your new path.
